TLDR: I'm an ND who struggles with anxiety and an inner critic to share my art. I have many irons in the fire that folks will get to see soon because I want to share what I do; one project is centered on my enjoyment of painting miniatures/figures.
The LONG (Rambley) Version:
I've been working up the courage to post over here more frequently. Posting/sharing is something I've struggled with since I can recall - out of fear.
CPTSD + Autism is good for that I hear - it's hard to connect with others when you're constantly worried what they'll do or say over what it might mean to you. It's also hard to ignore the 'lovely' inner critic who says such delights as 'no one will care', 'you're stupid', 'why bother wasting everyone's time', 'you're not that good', etc... even though I know it's not objectively true, right, or real; nor should I really let it or the fear stop me from sharing what I love to do.
I do want to share my art, meet others who enjoy art in many forms, and the comradery that can come with it.
(I also wouldn't mind sticking it to that unhelpful little voice!)
But to do so I have to start making a concerted effort to post, and post more regularly.
So this is my 'Continue Y/N?' (YES) selection.
I currently have many irons in the fire:
- Zines regarding Keystone species of the Sonoran region that I'm working on with a fellow artist.
- Sticker designs, and prints that I'll be sharing on here, & hopefully will have for sale as well.
- Old & New things to re/learn to improve my skills, and abilities.
- And a whole lot of 'grey to slay' - miniatures/figures to paint.
Sharing my WIP figures is currently is my 'lowest barrier to entry' subject that I can use to get into a better rhythm with posting & work on improving the 'how I want to post/share' aspect of things; and a relatively easy goal for me to meet the requirement of 'every week' post something!
So without further ado my concept of '#Figure Fridays' was crafted (last Friday) - where in I will post up my current WIPs, finished pieces, commissions, things I've learned, et al. every Friday going forward. I hope to see y'all on Fridays!
Thank you all & YCDI,
Ave.
