Mere weeks before crossing the parapet and entering the Rider's Quadrant, Violet Sorrengail finally stumbles upon whispers of something suspicious while spying on Navarre. With the threat of falling into the ravine hanging over her head, Violet throws everything into one final attempt at finding the truth before her Conscription Day.

Before Violet is warned against the Separatist's Son and before Xaden is given his orders to keep the General's youngest alive—and despite every compelling reason they have not to trust each other—they find themselves tied together for one fateful night that will leave them forever changed.

hahaha no, I have not thought that far ahead yet, honestly! Redux is fun because the thought experiment is essentially over, but I've left it open-ended enough that I'll return if the mood strikes me. There will definitely be at least two more: one following Xaden during the aftermath and one covering Presentation. After that, who knows!

I was almost done on the second epilogue, but I've been distracted by the progress I'm making on part II...

Hahaha just me and my talk of ramifications 🤭 It’s nothing crazy! In my mind, redux-verse would have some key changes given Violet would spend her first few months a lot differently, but the differences would largely shrink with time as the story progresses past Threshing until it looks very similar to normal spyverse. That’s why I won’t continue it too far. But those early events? We can definitely have some fun with those, just to be silly! Like I have a badass image in my mind of Tairn crashing Presentation that I’d love to bring into reality one day.

Like imagine you’re a dragon who waited almost 5 years to bond again thinking it’d never happen, you finally find someone you’re interested in via MateTV—and she happened to almost stab the most annoying human you know, this cannot be forgotten—and then you have to wait three months to see the fascinating silver human in person. I just think he’d probably get impatient! And Tairn is definitely a dragon who’d go for spectacle, as we know from canon…

A very personal thing of me is that I love to know what happens right away after a story ends, so I was THRILLED when I saw that you were going to tell us what happened after the best one night of all the time (for now).

Where they going to see each other before Conscription Day? Was Xaden going to be waiting for her at the beginning of the parapet? Omg it was everything and more (Xaden being PISSED OF at Violet for switching boots with Rhi is everything I didn’t know I needed)

Hahaha yay I’m so glad it made you that excited! I was hoping to have all of the planned redux stuff up in February but the month really drop kicked me in the head tbh I have been struggling! But now I’m settled (read: not unpacked) and excited to post more 💓

While I loved the one-night format, I’m also the type of person who is like “okay, what next?” so I totally get it! I couldn’t manage to leave it alone.

I'm so happy you enjoyed the redux detour/adventure! My life got very busy in the last few weeks, and I am very happy I was able to finish it before the end of the year. It's been such a wild time in the spyverse💜 641,164 words... 11 published works... over 300k hits and 7k comments between them all? Since February? Insanity!

Hopefully the next 400k story I write will be part II of the official story, picking up at Iron Flame 😂 Until then, I am still working on the bonus chapter for redux! I was planning on just yapping in the form of a few long paragraphs and headcanons, but it's over 1k now so I might continue the whole snippet thing until I have a full chapter. Either way, I will probably not be posting redux ever after for a minute. However, I'll post an alt-version of chapter 10 of redux below for fun (and because I don't think I'll ever finish it to post on AO3!) 🤭
