Her coffee had gone cold a minute too soon, the batteries in her remote died, the scent of her favorite candle no longer filled the room as it flickered itâs last flame. The day had been off from the moment Val woke up and she couldnât quite place why. All around her the breeze seemed colder, the whispers were louder-- it was as if the universe was trying to give her a sign. Something was happening... but what?
In the other room a newscasterâs voice was a muffled whisper as Val occupied her time by rearranging shelves. It seemed that readings werenât on high demand today and she needed something, anything,  to distract her from that feeling tugging at her. âAs you can see behind me, Star Bridge has been dropped into utter turmoil.â She froze. Star Bridge-- no, it had to be about someone else, it couldnât-- without even finishing her thought Valentina was in front of the t.v., eyes wide as she watched the scene play out.Â
No. This wasnât what sheâd seen. That wasnât what theyâd seen. This wasnât right. Even with the warning Gwen hadnât been able to save herself.... Valentina hadnât been able to help. What was the point of the visions if things like this happened? If things changed. All too quickly the sadness turned to anger. And a feeling that was all too strong a few years ago came rushing back-- she didnât want this. She didnât want the visions. She wanted normal. Without any hesitation Valentina reached for her phone and pressed against the only number on her favorites. Four rings. âHey... you busy?â @thebetterblackwidow
