last thing i'll say before my flight takes off but like ... even ignoring the book and how fucking astounding an ADAPTATION the long walk 2025 is, it's also just a really really good horror movie. this has been SUCH a good year for horror and the long walk did NOT break that streak. it is so fucking grueling, excruciating, and unbearable. the pacing is phenomenal and it's under 2 hours but it feels so SLOW, because it is absolutely torturous to watch. it really does create the same sickening feeling as the book does ... the idea that u CANNOT watch this, u CANNOT stand it, but it's too good to look away. the whole thing truly just feels like psychological torture. it's like. a lot of the same reasons i loved bring her back? but if bring her back was hard to watch because of how nauseatingly grotesque the child abuse was, this is hard to watch because of the fucking AGONIZING anticipation (which is fulfilled every single time). idk. it's like positive horror versus negative horror and this is both ... horror through both what's on screen and also what ur waiting for. ughhh it's SO GOOD!!!!
