hand headcanons for 5 shinsho because i was bored at work today and i've been thinking about this for awhile
kannagi
shorter stocky fingers
always warm to the touch (fire shinsho things)
callused tough skin from using homura
not uncommon to have bruised knuckles from training or fighting
tight hands from clenching them all the time
keeps his nails short for using homura - he will just trim his nails himself without clippers if he doesn't have clippers immediately available to him
used to do more for maintaining nails before he was a shinsho but not as often anymore, so nails are usually chipped or uneven
akachi
pre-shinsho:
rough, tough skin, always has calluses
big strong hands, always kinda cold and dirty
nails are dirty and chipped
shinsho:
ice cold, super pale hands
bruised a lot, bruises very dark purple colours (like a corpse)
wears gloves all the time so no one notices either these things
still doesn't care about nail maintenance so unkempt nails
sometimes his fingers get very stiff
yorunami
long ass (but elegant) fingers
hand always slightly cold to the touch (water shinsho things)
longer nails for playing stringed instruments
perfectly manicured nails 24/7
would have more calluses from sword training if not for scrubbing them off
sometimes wears rings or bracelets for special events, usually silver or jade
kugura
adult form has bigger hands than child form but both have shorter fingers
doesn't particularly care about hand grooming himself but wants to look good for the public (and women) so still does it
will sometimes grow out nails for awhile until he gets annoyed with the length, then cuts them short
pretty soft skin
child form has faint scars from working in the quarry, while adult form doesn't have any blemishes at all
needs stimulation, always tapping fingers or fidgeting with anything he can - learned to do it subtly so no one notices
wears rings or bracelets often, usually gold with amethysts or other purple gems
yataka
very pale from always wearing gloves
long fingers
very soft hands due to constant and rigorous cleaning
nails kept trimmed short and clean
if he doesn't wear gloves he picks at the skin around his nails when he's anxious, to the point of making himself bleed sometimes
holds pens too tight and gets cramps when working for too long
