Despite everything, it's still you.
A 2-page kyuushi fancomic! Read right to left
I've been totally obsessed with kyuushi recently, especially these two..
Some rough Kannagi sketches that I finally pulled out of the vault.

Yeah, the whole Akane clan thing is awful in itself and probably hints at patriarchy, but I think it's also a matter of the internal Tbhk lore.
It's not like "anyone would do" as a sacrifice, because people are essentially food for the pit demon, and there's a difference between fressing and tasting. The Akane clan inherently "possesses a special quality of spiritual power" (c), and there's probably some inheritance of these qualities. Just as Minamoto women are stronger than Minamoto men, so Akane girls are more palatable to the supernatural than men, and that's certainly cool, but it also turns out too badly for them, of course. Because the thing in the pit sucked all those Akane girls' victims dry. And Katakuri can even maintain his sanity! Why isn't he as dead as they are? He's also from the Akane clan, he's not some random person. Probably because girls' life forces are considered tastier and even easier to absorb.
The pit demon is a vile gourmet, which is probably why the artwork of the possessed Amane-sensei features blood cake and other delicacies, lol. Traditionally, it was customary to offer a sacrifice that would be truly appreciated. But then the tradition was toned down, and the house began devouring everyone it encountered, since it's not like everyone flocked there 24/7.
Over fifty years, of course, there would be a lot of people, but how many were there per year? Per month? The ghosts in the drawing of Tsukasa are more of a collective image of his existence during that period than statistics you can rely on.
My point is that not every sacrifice would have been suitable, and that "there was no point in keeping the Akane clan together" isn't that simple. Just because a demon eats everyone doesn't mean there aren't some connotations. After all, what's the difference between Minamoto and ordinary people? Can ordinary people be exorcists? In any case, of course, this doesn't negate the tragedy of the Akane clan's femicide.
They must have amnesia, they forgot I'm him.
