Yashica Electro 35 GTN Review by Brian
Hello everyone, Today I'm going to be reviewing the Yashica Electro 35 GTN. Made in Japan in 1973, it's most famously known as the camera Andrew Garfield used in The Amazing Spider-Man.
It's a 35mm rangefinder camera with a 45mm f/ 1.7 lens. The ASA(iso) ranges from 25 to 1000, the minimum focal length is 0.8m(2.6 feet) and it also has a bulb mode, an automatic mode, and a flash mode.
Now let's talk about the body of the camera and why I like it. It's fully metal meaning it's a pretty solid camera, this makes it a little heavy but the nice slim body means it's the perfect camera to carry around all day. The viewfinder is big, bright and easy to see through. The battery check button is a welcome addition and shutter lock means you're not gonna accidentally waste a shot when you put it in your bag, which is kinda nice.
The only downside of this camera is the battery. This is because the original one is discontinued/hard to find, but fortunately, there are a lot of alternative options you can use and personally I use one cr123a and two lr44's together.
Enough talking about the lens and the body of the camera now, what is it like to shoot with?
It's pretty fun and easy to use. it's a great choice for those who want to move on from using a point and shoot but don't want to carry around an SLR. The lens is sharp super sharp and the focusing mechanism is easy to operate
Overall this is a great, lightweight camera which has served me well for the last few years. They're fairly common so the price isn't too expensive but as far as I'm aware it's the best value rangefinder you can get.
