sort of in relation to your artfight post, but how many OCs would you say you have outside of CHNT? could we maybe hear about/see some art of them?? ( ◜‿◝ )
Are people interested in that...?!
I have a few! In terms of "active" OCs, they're ones I currently concept out on the backburner for future stories. There's two primary stories rotating for me right now!
This story doesn't have a name yet, but this is Myna and Mary Lou Alouette:
They are royal sisters!
This is a reduced description of the character dynamics: In a fantasy regency setting, the younger sister, Myna, is the designated princess taxed with birthing an heir. The elder Mary Lou is relieved by having joined the fantasy nunnery.
Myna miscarries the first child with her betrothal and learns in secret that she is infertile. Mary Lou is the one to tell her. This designates her a "molly"--a very offensive and derogatory social status--and she runs away to join a forsaken knight on his journey to prove his honor.
This knight, Florenci, scorned son of a fallen tyrant, is mortified by her stowing away with him. If they found her with him, they would have him executed. He cannot send her home alone, so he forces her into men's clothing in order to hide her. She is humiliated and shamed by this ritual, but slowly realizes the relief and freedom she feels in this performance is a new and terrifying dream. She thought she needed to be a good wife, mother, and heiress; something which she could never live up to. But here, an even more grim reality rushes to meet her: she never wanted that at all.
The language to express wanting to be a man doesn't exist, and is unheard of, but her and Florenci both come to understand what she's feeling the best they can.
(The subtext here is that she is an intersex, transgender man, suppressed and stripped of social ability to speak or act on such, and is instead forcibly betrothed and expected to birth against her will.)
At the same time, Florenci is being manipulated by his loyalist mother, still keen on the political, divine right of his fallen father. He is one of three forsaken siblings, which are encouraged to act as undercover loyalists for their father. She encourages him to take this chance and fraternize with Myna, get close to her, to ultimately kill her and the king (her father)... Myna is everything Florenci cannot be, privileged with family, power, and honor. Seen as a scorn for who he was born to, and with the opportunity to turn the tides on his relentless ostracism, Florenci must make a choice.
And Myna, tragically, never truly lives this identity she discovers. Upon her return, she miscarries the child she would have had with Florenci. And she is met with her irate betrothed. She believes that, perhaps her and Florenci could run away. She was shown a whole world beyond her whiskers, and it's something she could take, that she has the power to take, should she choose to.
But the night she prepares to make the proposal to Florenci, Mary Lou confesses to her a pregnancy with Florenci's fallen brother, Wolfram. Mary Lou slept with Wolfram as a supposed rebellion against the rigidity of her religious organization, when in reality she did just as expected of her. This was in denial of her true feelings for the third forsaken child; a woman in the coven named Primrose.
Mary Lou begs Myna to take the children. And suddenly, she is given the life she'd always hoped for, only through a twisted mirror.
Because they are Wolfram's, she could lie that they are Florenci's. Now she could be a mother, a wife, and a harlot, sure, but Florenci would be spared of further scorn. Then he too can live a life he's dreamed...
(her betrothed, Harper, doesn't take this well btw lol)
The story is meant to be a multi-part series exploring different generations of familial strife and also Beast Fighting. ☝️
That was longer than intended but that's OC ramble 1! To explain the second concept would then make this post terribly long!
