Anyways I like to think that once Kaiba gets his top surgery done, Yugi starts visiting him a day or two after the surgery (even if Kaiba is kind of cranky about it at first- cause being vulnerable is already hard enough but having to be in front of his rival when he's barely able to lift his arms up is borderline mortifying) but hey, Mokuba can't always be around his brother when there's a multi-million corporation to run and someone's gotta keep him company, if nothing else to get the drains changed and make sure he doesn't overextend and rip a stitch being impatient. Yugi would always try to bring along some duel monsters cards anytime he visits, to get Kaiba's mind off of the muscle pain and scar itching. And hey! Playing cards doesn't require lifting your arms too much anyways, and it's something they both enjoy, so it's a win win.

It's coming up on a week after his top surgery and one afternoon Yugi notices that Kaiba's being more sulky than usual.

"Do you want me to get you more pain meds?"

"No. I'm fine."

"You don't seem fine-"

"I feel disgusting."

It's hard for Yugi to hear, probably harder for Kaiba to say. And sure, they both know that the surgery was the right step forward and the healing will get better eventually, but it's hard to deny that recovery feels like shit. After a moment Yugi puts a comforting hand on his shoulder and notices Kaiba's hair tickling his hand. Specifically, how... weirdly greasy it feels. Not that Yugi is a stranger to the feeling of greasy hair, but Kaiba's usually always on top of his appearance. And then it hits him.

"Ah, right. You still can't take a shower or anything yet."

"You don't have to remind me, Yugi."

"Well... maybe I can wash your hair for you? It'd help you feel a little less gross at least."

It's a bit of work to set up. Getting a towel around Kaiba's shoulders and finding a good position for him to sit by the bathroom tub to not aggravate the scars or let the drains get wet. But eventually with some careful kneeling, a bucket and a cup, some warm water, Yugi can (somewhat) comfortably give Kaiba a nice hair wash. Does it feel embarrassing to be in a position where his rival has to do something as simple as washing his hair for him? Absolutely. But... it's better than feeling dirty. And the warm water with Yugi's fingers running through his hair feels nice at least, and occasionally seeing Yugi smiling down at him... for once Kaiba's feeling something in his chest other than pain and discomfort.

Finally while Kaiba's still sitting down he takes the towel off his shoulders and dries off Kaiba's hair with it. Gently brushing the errant wet strands out of his face, Yugi smiles at him.

"That feel better?"

Kaiba has to try and disregard the blush creeping on his cheeks. But finally he nods.

"...Yeah. Better."

And damn him if the accomplished look on Yugi's face doesn't make him feel warmer inside, more than the wash from a few minutes ago.

"Good! Now c'mon, let me help you get back on your feet."
