Current Main Cast (More will be added):
You: in the body of royal princess Amira De Vance Allen
Lady Calenthè Valeris of Valeris Duchy
Duke Yuriel Rasmuth of Rasmuth Duchy
What could be more convenient than you being isekai'd into the body of a historical manhwa's female lead? I mean, people get isekai'd as villainesses or side characters all the time. They always have this nightmare of a bad ending or even the threat of death to deal with. But not you. You got the cream of the crop, the vip ticket to acing the storyline of a historical manhwa.
Congratulations, Princess Amira De Vance! You are in the body of the noble, pure, white lotus of a mary sue (that's a lot of words, wait, does the author hate them for some reason!?) female lead. Not only are you a saintess with healing powers, you also get the hot male lead in the end, the cold duke of the north (he's just very chilly, don't judge him).
But not before witnessing the trials of the original manhwa of course. There is the villainess to deal with. And the dragons. And the war. And the enemy kingdoms.
All you have to do is stay on the righteous side and heal people. First, the plague that the enemy nations intentionally brought in with infected imports has to be almost eradicated by you unleashing your powers. Then, you go to the battlefield as a medic, and because of you most soldiers don't end up dying and stay in good enough shape to overwhelm the enemies.
Sounds easy enough, right?
But interesting things happen before the main plot of the story. You get engaged to the Duke Rasmuth, who doesn't really seem to want anything to do with you at first. Most side characters were extremely sympathetic to the fl, because who in their right mind wouldn't want to marry a royal saintess? But you weren't jolted by this fact. You knew how the story goes.
Eventually Rasmuth's childhood sweetheart arrives on the scene of your engagement party. Lady Calenthè of the Valeris Duchy. Lady Calenthè, like you, was born with a silver spoon in her mouth. But she was everything unlike you.
She never had any magical powers when she was born. In fact, she was a bit of an odd duck, and considering the Duchy of Valeris was meant to have powers over blood magic, her very presence was considered ominous due to her having inherited no magic. Because she was powerless, she was often mistreated in her early life. But she didn't let that stop her from seizing power from anywhere she could. It took her some time, but she excelled in everything. Swordsmanship, academics, the arts, music, everything. There were rumors about how the villainess would work herself to a near death like state while almost bleeding.
Your heart ached hearing all this.
And it ached even more seeing how Duke Rasmuth treated her.
The moment she arrived his back straightened up, but in a way that someone notices a threat entering their life. The moment you lay your eyes on her, you caught your breath.
Her skin was tanned, but her hair was white. Strange eyes and hair colours were typical of these manhwas, but her features shone in a way that was captivating. Her eyes were blood red, which was typical of a person from the Valeris Duchy. But her hair, which was supposed to be red, was all white.
Some people said it was the sign of the Valeris bloodline's magic fading. Her lack of magical powers didn't help.
She came in a sparkly red dress and some people gasped. While it was the colour of her house, it was obvious what this colour meant at engagements and weddings in this world.
This was the first time you saw any emotion on Duke Rasmuth's face.
'You.. You dare insinuate that there was something between us?' He says, as she approaches us both. To your surprise, he quickly hides you a little behind him, as if sensing a threat towards you.
That would be stupid. You're a royal princess and right now the entire ballroom's eyes are on you three. And Lady Calenthè wasn't giving off the 'dumb enough to attack a beloved princess in front of everyone' vibes.
'I greet the little moon of the empire, Princess Amira De Vance Allen,' she bows down in front of us.
Oh right. Your status is higher than the duke right now. Of course you get greeted first when you aren't married to a duke yet.
'You inso-' the Duke starts.
'I greet your grace, Duke Rasmuth,' she says, in a bored manner. You sense a hint of venom underneath, even though it wasn't obvious.
In the beginning of the story, it was intended that Rasmuth and Calenthe get engaged. Calenthe was extremely attached to him.
But Rasmuth was cold to her for the sole reason that the intended engagement was meant to insult him. Calenthe was the abandoned and powerless daughter of the Valeris Duchy after all. And Rasmuth was the youngest son of three back then. It was a bit of an inside joke of the Rasmuth family, the symbol of fading power loving the symbol of none. It's like the waning crescent moon.
Eventually the sons of the Rasmuth family died, one by one. First, the eldest son had swallowed a piece of glass during teatime (must be in the sandwiches, huh?). He died coughing up blood for three days as the shard went down his throat, his stomach and eventually his guts. The second son's leg caught up in the reins of the horse he was tending to, and the horse ran off with him screaming across the woods. When he was found, he wasn't exactly in one piece..
Henceforth we see Yuriel finally inherit the Rasmuth Duchy. Since he was the new Duke, a match better than Calenthè was sought for him. Your father would've preferred a royal from one of the neighbouring kingdoms, but the noble faction was getting unstable.
This was one of the reasons why this kingdom was now seeing strained relations with some of the neighbouring countries. A princess with powers of a saintess was a well anticipated bride for some of these nations. However, your match was found within the nation instead, while the norm of the time was that royal marriages were a tool for political gain.
While you were flattered at first, the very thought of it also made you feel a little guilty. You never thought you would reincarnate into a woman whose face could start and end wars.
So here you stand, forced to be merry with the very woman that is supposed to harass Rasmuth and you to near death, for the sole reason that she will not be cast aside like dirt, even if she never really did have any affection for Rasmuth. For Lady Calenthe, it was a matter of pride. In the story, this element was shown in order to portray her as a heartless and calculating woman.
But to you, it made her seem all the more likeable.
But you were about to learn your lesson for that one. Monsters are only likeable in fiction and from a distance, but if they make you their target, you get a harsh wake up call to reality.
