It was as though someone had flipped a switch, sending Sora's emotions from one extreme right to another. The relief and elation in his voice gave way to a break as he settled into the embrace — one that, as soon as the news got to him about Flare's true intentions, Sora had been afraid he wouldn't get to feel again.

And then that fear and sadness gave way to guilt, remembering his first excursion to this world, when he'd been in a completely different, island region. How shortly after Silva had disappeared to another of the islands, a man approached him. A man who'd wanted nothing more than to find his daughter. A man who, at the time, had only seemed like his stony demeanor was meant to hide the worry he felt for her. A man who'd been feigning all of those emotions all along, for his own selfish purposes.

And Sora had wandered right into the spider's web, volunteering information about Silva simply because he hadn't known any better.

The images of the newscasts remained burned into his mind: of the weapon, blossoming like a poisonous flower, meant to take this whole world down with it except only for the "worthy." Of the ruins of the town around it the instant he'd been able to land the Gummi Ship there — the fastest way he had to get from Alola to Kalos and see if she was okay.

He couldn't help but feel responsible.
