A Final Farewell
Kind of.
For the past 16 days I have spent time staying with a host family in Taipei Taiwan, to experience the culture and represent Phoenix Sister Cities’ mission to foster personal relationships between countries. While here, I formed many personal bonds with two Polish girls named Maja and Martyna, a Latvian ambassador named Baiba, and my own American “freedom squad”. This isn’t even counting the Taiwanese hosts, Brain, Annie, William, Jason, Vicky, and Jo. Having adventures between us has helped form the first half of what has been the best summer of my life so far and something I think I will never forget.
A huge shoutout to our hosts here for being so inviting and accepting of the Freedom Squad into their homes (be sure to thank your parents for us), and the other ambassadors from Taiwan. You guys are amazing and I hope we meet each other again someday! Despite knowing you guys for only two weeks, the ending is still bittersweet for me. Everyone that is coming to America, I will be able to see still, but to Jason, Vicky, and Jo, I hope I see you guys again one day! Have a wonderful life and enjoy living in this amazing country you have been so kind to share!
To the Taiwan ambassadors from Poland and Latvia, you are all amazing and I hope you guys had as good a time as I! If I’m ever in Poland or Latvia, I’ll hit you up for sure! And if you visit America, you know who to call. Thank you so much for the memories and everything else!
Love you guys!
Taiwan is an amazing country full of food, experience, decent public transportation, and delicious tea. There is no way I would regret my decision or have chosen any different country. The friendly people, English-compliant restaurants, and incredible vibe are all I could ask for, and to anyone thinking about planning a trip to an Asian culture, definitely pick Taipei Taiwan. They also have this lit Grand Hyatt done to look like tradition Oriental architecture that you could stay at, and Grand Hyatts are the bomb.
Bonus Shoutout!
Another final shoutout to the program director Bethany for helping us gain everything I have written about so far! We could not have done this without you, and Im excited to start the hosting calendar with you and the rest of the ambassadors!
I think these pictures summarize our time here very well.
