Yet Another Bullet Hell

Fly through space in this crazy multiplayer shoot’em up and defeat a variety of enemies alone or with your friends!

Yet Another Bullet Hell (YABH) is a multiplayer shoot’em up that lets you defeat waves of enemies and bosses alone or with any number of friends! Every player shares the same life pool so every death affects the whole team. Can you carry your friends through this endless adventure or are you going to be the one that will end their journey?

YABH is all about showing off how the network components of a game can be put together. Being a school project, the focus was on the multiplayer aspect. The game has a highscore system and continuously loops enemy waves while increasing the difficulty by multipling the amount of enemies after every loop. There was one particular requirement / instruction that struck me immediately:

“All assets have to be made by yourself, public assets and external sources are not allowed”

And there it was. I immediately stuck to pixel art, being a programmer with no particular drawing skills I had to do something simplistic but good-looking. I also composed a soundtrack for the game, but didn’t feel like it was good enough so I didn’t include it in the game. I will include GIFs of the multiplayer part of the game once I have found enough victims to torture with my game soon.
