Yaaaas Queen! πβ€οΈπ@girlnextdoorhoney γ»γ»γ» A virgin queen. Turn the sound on and you can hear her piping! Young, unmated queen bees make this sound/vibration often after they emerge. Itβs not totally clear why, but a lot of beekeepers think itβs a kind of battle cry or a way or declaring herself as queen over other virgin queens that may be running around. This is not my hive and I just started managing it, but I believe it has swarmed. The old queen left with half the bees to make a new home and the remainder of the colony must carry on with a new queen. They raise several queens and these queens fight to the death.
