xxprincesskai for the drabble request:
Sora and Kairi were practicing once again, this time without the ever watchful eye of Master Riku. Normally, they would take this as a chance to slack off. But Xehanort’s presence was becoming more and more ominous and they knew the battle between the 13 darknesses and 7 lights was coming all too soon.
Though Kairi was struggling a little bit to hold him back with her keyblade, she reminded him, “Don’t hold back. We both need to be at our strongest.”
Sora nodded and pushed himself harder, enough that she found herself needing to jump back to avoid getting hit by his blade which ended up striking the floor once she was out of its path. Having used too much of his strength, it took Sora a moment to lift his keyblade back up from the ground. But by that point, Kairi already had hers at his throat.
She let out a bit of a groan, commenting, “If you die, I’m gonna kill you!”
Sora titled his head backwards while simultaneously using aeroga to knock her keyblade enough out of his direction so that he could move to safety. “That doesn’t even make sense!” He called back with a small, breathy laugh.
Her cheeks burned and she fired back with her voice as well as her keyblade, swinging at him rapidly, “Of course it does! It means I’ll find a way to bring you back to life just to kill you myself for dying in the first place!”
He struggled to block her, his body feeling extremely tired, but he finally managed to get in a few good blows in recoil. “You wouldn’t.” He said teasingly, a small grin still on his face.
Using her annoyance as extra energy, she managed to smack his keyblade out of his hand and sent it flying across the room. He was knocked backwards on the floor from the force, landing on his butt though Kairi used her free hand to shove him onto his back. His smile had turned into a look of surprise and confusion as she straddled him, pushing her keyblade into the ground inches away from his head.
Now smirking herself, Kairi answered, “I would.”
It took a minute for the look of bewilderment to leave Sora’s face and for his capability of speech to come back, but he finally closed his eyes and smiled, “Okay, fine. I believe you.”
