X-Schlag is an umbrella term for when a specific stimulus, environment, concept, object, being, place, or phenomenon “strikes” someone in a way that strongly affects their internal experience. It can involve the following experiences, but is not limited to:
-Overflowing / Intense emotions
-Altered / Distorted perception(s)
-Phantom sensations
-Mild disconnect from the rest of the environment
-Phantom shifts and urges
-Involuntary bodily reactions
-Faux (or seemingly real) memories
-Tachycardia (Racing heart)
-Intense Euphoria, Dysphoria, or something between, or even completely different
-Dizziness
-Etc.
This is not limited to alterhumans; anyone can relate to this! It is mildly based on Stendhal Syndrome, but the term itself is not inherently pathological. Everyone can experience these “schlag experiences” differently, and can relate to one or more examples at once. It can be positive, negative, neutral, multiple of them, or something else.
It comes from the German word “Schlag”, to hit.
The suffix is -schlag.

Phew! I had been planning to coin this for a week now, but i didn’t know if anyone would appreciate the overwhelming amount of German. That is why i added the latin alternative, in case someone wanted more “conventional” names.
