Don't really post about trains here, but im gonna start now.
I am so happy that they've repainted the XPT in its original candy livery, and didn't half-ass it in the least.
It's near identical to how it looked back in the 1980s, such a beautiful and faithful restoration job.
Then compare this to the "restoration" of the V set's Blue Goose livery-
Incredibly lazy job, genuinely made me so upset when I saw it. Lipstick on a pig, a terrible treatment for one of my favourite trains of all time. But, seeing the care that was put into the XPT, gives me hope that someday they'll do a proper job of doing up the V sets for when it starts being used for Transport Heritage events
CRAWLS INTO YOUR INBOX SHAKING
DO YOU HAVE A FAVOURITE TRAIN
Yeas I do :3 and while I would have historically said Tangaras, upon reflection I think XPTs are cooler.
Firstly just look at her
Blue and yellow is such great train colours and Sydney trains is taking it away from me (Rip OSCar Cityrail livery, the new livery is shit). They also just make such a fun and low sound (from the diesel engine unfortunately but still) and they're actually quite comfy, the buffet is meh tho.
A more personal reason I love em is that they are the trains that get me to my qpps which like yea thank you train. Trains are amazing.
I hardly doubt anyone who sees this has ever watched this (apart from those I've subjected to watching it with me) but there's this old silent doco called A Steam Train Passes from 1974 about the 3801 (an iconic steam train in NSW) travelling through the countryside and picking up passengers for 21 minutes. It's great and I would love to, when the XPT retires in the next few years, basically redo that film but with the XPT.
Wow I rambled there :3
Do you like trains?
