It had been a long time since he had just sat and done nothing over a cup of coffee. He never had the time. The old Finley was always rushing to get things done for work, always busy. The new Finley was raw and hurting and had absolutely nothing to do. He looked at his coffee once again and contemplated how something like this could happen for the millionth time.

How had the ministry allowed him to hurt all those people? How was the security that bad? How had he almost ended up in prison for the attacks when he’d been under the imperius curse the whole time? How was his father going to play this?

He stared into his coffee hoping answers would come to him but they never seemed to. Perhaps he should just stop puzzling and just accept that the ministry were trying their best. He always tried to do that but this time it just wasn’t sinking in. He couldn’t quite buy that this wasn’t all just down to incompetence. 

He was started out of his daydream when a waitress brought over his grilled sandwich and looked up to see a vaguely familiar face. His father knew her’s or something. Maybe her grandfather. Finley always tried to learn the faces he should know in the wizarding world but sometimes slipped up. He greeted her anyway not wanting to seem standoff-ish.

“Hey. Zabini right? ” He offered a smile. He was trying to be overly friendly given his reputation at the moment. Maybe if enough people thought he was a nice guy they could recover from this whole him attacking other ministry employees.

“Can I get you a coffee? Or split a sandwich?”
