Xlj thoughts
I'm currently at chapter 57, and I have ALOT of thoughts (spoilers under the cut)
At the moment (of chapter 57) this might be shaping to be the best 'transmigration into a story' I read ever. I love the set up for questions and how there is more to Luo Qingci's transmigrating than 'she was reading the story and she died while reading it'. I also love how restrictions are taken off Luo Qingci when she understands the og! Luo Qingci more, so she could 'play as her better'. It feels like an actor getting better as playing their role, due to being able to immerse in it.
On topic of Luo Qingci, I love her and her characterization. She's resourcesful and smart, but also, she's short-sighted in her goals and never felt like part of her new reality. Her goal is to keep Ruan Li from falling into despair and get happy ending, but she never thought about what she will do when she finds out that Chi Qing, the person she loves the most, is Luo Qingci. She never pondered where she will stand in the conflict, as she concentrated on Ruan Li's happiness and, well, this world was just a novel's world to her. Ruan Li was the only real part of it, until she started to view others as humans too instead of npcs. She never questioned what has happened to og! Luo Qingci since she took her place until her reality became too much to deny. I also love how she despairs over the fact that Ruan Li is open and truthful, while she has to keep secrets.
I also absolutly adore Ruan Li. We get bits of her from original novel and her current one, and it puts her into new light constantly. Ruan Li was love starved since start, the only person who didn't give up on her (in both version) was her father who she lost. Nobody in her clan took her seriously and she was send out to save it, and she didn't fight, as she wanted to help them. She never got to be a child, never got to be loved, so no wonder she originally fell in the novel for the first person that shown care for her. When everybody she tried to fight for and protect ended up turning on her, no wonder she fell into despair and destroyed the world. She gave it everything, while it gave nothing in return for her. Chi Qing is a variable, that changed her fate, someone who did take care of her from start, which made her life bearable. Their reunion years later just made her feelings stronger, and are starting to turn romantic, which makes me worry what will happen when she finds out that Chi Qing is actually Luo Qingci, seeing how the og! Luo Qingci helped kill her father. Ruan Li is so lovable, but also, so tragic to me. The mystery which I look forward to in finding out in regards to her is who it is that is in her mind (my bet is on og! Ruan Li, which has so much potential, as it means that og! Ruan Li looks after her new version and wants for her to have happiness and to keep her safe :,) )
I like how important side charas are also given chance to shine (mainly, Su Yu, Jiang Yuebai and Hua Xuwun. I love these three that I might actually make designs for them too). The world, ironically, feels alive and that the characters are part of it. I also absolutly adore the world building in it, and how tid-bits of it can be found in dialogues.
The writing? Amazing. All of the descriptions feel like they have a point and I can imagine what is happening in there.
LiQing's dynamic is great so far, with how the two care about eachother, and it is progressing. Luo Qingci at first cared for Ruan Li, to stay alive and because it was her mission, but then it turned into actual care, while Ruan Li adored Luo Qingci, as she was one of the few people she could be truthful with. I love how different dynamic is when it's 'Ruan Li-Luo Qingci' and 'Ruan Li-Chi Qing'. It's slowburn, so I can't wait to see how the romantic development goes. I also can't wait (in tears) for the angst that will come with Chi Qing is Luo Qingci reveal and how it would be resolved. I mean, there is angst already with how Ruan Li feels like she can be truthful and doesn't hide anything from Chi Qing, while Luo Qingci has tons of secrets that she keeps hidden.
