While it was true that Arthur had a great source of magic that enabled him to do things far out of the ordinary, there wasnât a whole lot that he could do in terms of keeping up with the Spiderâs speed and reflexes. There was no real way to combat the forewarning of the Spider Sense either. That was what ended up alerting Peter just as Arthurâs hand began to inch down and carefully coil his finger about the trigger; he got no further than that. When the webbing clamped down around his hand and the pocket that holstered the firearm, it no doubt forced Arthur to prematurely pull the trigger and cause the bullet to whizz across the field, parallel to the ground and eventually embedding itself into the trunk of a tree. The agent wouldnât be able to pull his hand or the gun back out either, stuck holding down the trigger and thus disabling it.
âThe hell is wrong with you?!â Again, Peter was forced to fake ignorance. It hurt, but there was no choice in the matter. He had to play the role that heâd forced himself to take, and that was to remain a protector of the city, even more so to Arthur than ever. âOkay, look⌠maybe I donât know what just happened, but I really canât just stand by and watch you do⌠whatever it is youâre trying to do now. Maybe I donât want to know, but thereâs not a reason in this world that equivalents you killing yourself, even if it might seem like a good reason.â
There was a pause as the vigilante rubbed at his forehead with a sigh, though he eventually made his way over and ripped through the webbing holding Arthurâs gun and hand to his side. He easily pulled out the weapon and held onto it, that way, Arthur couldnât hurt himself. Heâd already been hurt enough, and Peter knew it was his fault. â⌠We need to get you to the hospital, okay?â
If there was ever a timeâŚThe nails of his free hand dug into his palm, so deep that they broke through the skin and he started to bleed. Frustrated tears welled in his eyes once more at the pain and almost pure insanity going through his head at this moment. This, this was something he could keep. His own death. His own destruction after all these breaking years of agony. If there was anything in this godforsaken Earth that he could have it would be his own demise!! There was no way he was going to let the spider get away with taking that from him after everythingââââ
âWhy?â The other man is speaking but the only thing processing in Arthur is bitter hate and a freedom like death he just missed. âWhyâŚ? I-I did everything I could and yetâŚâ Thereâs a silence that fills the air for a moment, a gentle moment of heavy atmosphere and quiet thinking before the agent is up faster than you can blink. And oh, heâs mad. No more than mad, absolutely pissed.
âHospital?! You want to take me to a fucking hospital?!!" Heâs approaching the vigilante with this pained lookââ A thrown gesture to the side and things start rising to the air;; rocks, loose leaves, fallen branches and discarded trash left on the ground by the carelessness of others. Arthur canât control himself anymore; all he sees is this blind rage and self hate that reflects clearly in the brightened gold at the irises of his eyes. "You think I wanna go to a fucking hospital?! After all this, I would rather die here than seek help for myself!! Donât come over here and save my ass like itâs a good thing! I donât want to be saved!! After everything, everything Iâve ever done, what did I do wrong to deserve any of this?! All I ever did was for the benefit of others! All I ever wanted to do was make otherâs happy! And the one time, the one fucking time I want to smile I get the only thing Iâve cared about stolen from me!! You really think my concern right now is my life?! Fuck you!â The objects suspended in mid-air start moving, circling around them like the beginning of a tornado. When he gets close enough he shoves against the heroâs chest, pushing him back as tears blur his vision and fall down his reddened cheeks. âWhy did you save me huh?!" Another shove. "I didnât want to be saved; I wanted him toââ! I wanted him!! I want him goddamnââ-" This time, when hands fall on the other, he balls up the spandex and raises a fist. By the time hit actually lands, however, the momentum of the swing dies down, and the closed fingers fall gently against the bright red as Arthur crumbles and falls to the ground with a sob. Everything around them stops, and as if on cue, drops to the floor as well. In the wake of the mess was nothing more than a broken man.
