Man I want to hang out in Central Park!!! At the exact same time, X-Factor fights Freedom Force, and the X-Men, the Hellfire Club, and Nimrod have a three way battle royale! It’s an X-Men orgy!!!!!! I want to go and cosplay. I’d do a gender bending Emma Frost. (X-Factor #8 – Sept 1986)
Man this timeline is all sorts of fucked up. Even Jean can sense she was supposed to have a girl with Scott! I wonder what she’ll do when she finally meets her. I’m still unclear as to how / why this timeline diverged from the one where Rachel was born. For whatever reason, Phoenix didn’t die at the end of the Phoenix Saga, but why? I always thought that it was the time travel events from Days of Future Past that caused things to be different, but it turns out that isn’t the case. Anyway, at least Scott and Jean are finally talking about this shit. And it only took 8 issues. (X-Factor #8 – Sept 1986)
Warren should wait until the corpse is cold??? YOU ARE MARRIED TO ANOTHER WOMAN. Fuck. I know I’ve always said Scott is a huge dick, but man, the dickishness is at DEFCON 5 in these issues of X-Factor. It’s like, habitual line stepping dickishness. Sorry. Charlie Murphy just died at the time of this writing. (X-Factor #8 – Sept 1986)
Oh man. X-Factor catches wind of the fight going on between the X-Men, the Hellfire Club, and Nimrod in Central Park. Will the original X-Men confront the current team for the first time here? There is going to be some god damn fireworks going off when that happens… the X-Men realizing Scott abandoned his wife, X-Factor accusing the new team of allying with Magneto, and Wolverine and Storm discovering that Jean is still alive. Fuck. (X-Factor #8 – Sept 1986)

Good golly, the Blob has really packed on a few since he first appeared in the original series. Lookit how cramped poor Spider-Woman is!! That’s how I feel every time I get on an airplane. Anyway, is this a continuation of his genetic mutation? Or an example of how much more fantastic and exaggerated comic book art became in the 1980s. (X-Factor #8 – Sept 1986)
Ok ok, we’ve got to pause from the cliffhanger ending that just happened in Uncanny X-Men #208 to check out what’s going on in X-Factor, because the two series are starting to play off each other in subtle ways, having an indirect cause and effect relationship, and heightening the tension of everything going on. In this issue, the new Freedom Force returns to face off against the original X-Men, fresh off of a battle with the current team in Uncanny X-Men #206. I thought for a second it might be cool to see the reformed Brotherhood of Evil Mutants face off against the original X-Men enemies, a callback to the first issues of the original series, but then I remembered that only the Blob was a member of the Brotherhood back then, and none of these other newbies ever had any beef with the original team (except for Warren, who tangled with Mystique’s Brotherhood during Days of Future Past). Still though, it’s kind of cool see the Blob fighting the original team again. Remember this shit? (X-Factor #8 – Sept 1986)
