Look at how the brilliance of Walt Simonsonās artwork so perfectly captures the permeating aura of Scott Summersās stinkface. Look how he uses light and shadow to accentuate the pouty lower lip. This is Sabertoothās first appearance in an X-Men comic. Heās taking part in the Marauders assault against the Morlocks in the sewers of New York City, but heās acting alone in this comic, preferring to hunt and kill by himself. It is amazing to see just how similar he is to Wolverine, from his powers to his mannerisms and his way of talking. If I was reading this for the first time back in the day Iād probably be asking āgeez does everybody have a healing factor now?ā

The massacre continues. There are even more Marauders in this issue of X-Factor than who we saw in Uncanny X-Men #211 indicating that this is a larger coordinated assault than what it first seemed, making the whole prospect of a single super villain team murdering thousands of mutants seem a bit more plausible. X-Factor is able to save Rusty Collins and Skids from the Mutant Massacre, but Warren gets left behind to give the others time to escape and he ends up paying the price. Another casualty.Ā The writers are doing a good job of allowing all the main characters to live but many of them are many are going to come away from the event with lasting injuries. This is by my count the second time Warren has been crucified.

Candy Southern is about as sick of these mutantsā bullshit as I am. Youāre too good for these assholes, girl! Blah. Besides that, Warren and Jeanās friendship has always been just a little bit too close for comfort for me, and I know this because everytime they have a scene like this I throw up in my mouth. Shit!!! Apocalypse makes a brief appearance during Mutant Massacre, long enough to give encouragement to the Marauders for culling the mutant herd before smashing Harpoons face in, and then whisking the Morlock named Plague off to become Pestilence, the first horseman of the apocalypse. Man, after a questionable start, Apocalypse got real cool, real quick. (X-Factor #10 ā Nov 1986)
