Margo Harper Bowman is twenty years old and a Freshman at Rosewood University.
One crisp winter morning in Brookfield, Illinois a young baby girl was born to parents Summer and Mark Bowman. Margo lived a relatively normal childhood caring parents and a nice house. She had privilege, but always a looming pressure from her parents to make them proud. Her mother was a private music tutor and her father the band director at the local high school. Needless to say, Margo had a lot of live up to. But she was a stubborn girl and wanted nothing to do with it. While her parents forced her into dancing and singing lessons, when Margo would have any free time she would be locked up in her bedroom writing in her journal or using the various cameras she got for Christmases and birthdays to practice her photography skills. As she grew older, so did the pressure from her parents. They would fight about it: why their daughter wanted to do nothing to please them. Margo always saw them as petty fights. Why did her parents care so much about these superficial arts? She found so much more passion in writing than she ever had dancing or performing. But that wasn’t the only fighting in the house. Margo’s parents began to fight too. She tried to ignore it. There was a breaking point. One afternoon when Margo got home from school her room was destroyed. All of her cameras smashed, most of her journals torn to shreds. Her father had done it, finally done with his daughter’s insubordination and finally done with hiding his affair from the family. It completely broke Margo. Even after all the years of lacking support from her parents did never expected her own father to do this to her. The abandonment send Margo down a spiraling road of distrust and hate. After high school she took some time off, keeping to herself, though still living with her mother who had turned to alcohol and strange men to cope with the loss of their stable family. Then she made the move, throwing a dart blindly onto a map and deciding where she would finally go to college. She had the grades, the wits and the money to go pretty much anywhere she wanted. And perhaps it was better to get as far away as possible to from the only place she had called home. Margo is a decently closed off individual, she had never been great at making friends, being very quiet and shy as a child as well. Though she is kind-hearted she has massive trust issues and is easily upset whenever she suspects anyone is betraying her. Margo will now attend Rosewood University to study English.
