“Here you go!” Umeko gave a handful of frozen peas to the little girl that had come up to her and Joey. The two of them were feeding the local ducks at the park, and she must have gotten curious. Umeko watched her walk off to her mother who helped her throw the food out for the ducks still swimming around.

Yuu knows this boy much they way they know most students here not in their immediate circle of friends — by reputation / mention more than anything else.  Still, that’s enough to make them helpful / willing to play along.  Brows arch as he waves them down; then they smile, just a little, faint but looking...charmed.  A snowman, huh?

— A memory makes a home in the tender part of their chest, surprising them.  They used to make snowmen with their siblings.  The nostalgia is the same as pain, but they’re glad for it, even as their heart trembles with something like missing / like mourning.

“Got it,” they reply simply, turning on their heel and, apparently no more concerned with the bell than he, heading over the aforementioned branch and lifting it.  When they make their way back to the other and begin adding the snowman’s second arm, they glance at him with a smile.

There weren’t many things that could turn Ronan’s stomach to butterflies, but sneaking out in the dead of night to go flying with his best (only) friend? That definitely did it for him. Of course, Shiloh didn’t know they were going to be flying, but that was part of the fun in his mind. Shiloh wouldn’t have agreed to come with him if he started with that, after all.

Ronan had quietly crept out of his temporary nest with Enni, careful to not wake her. He was astounded he’d made it out, usually there wasn’t any type of stealth that could make it past his sister. Once he was out of earshot, he breathed a sigh of relief and let his muscles relax. Now for part two of his master plan – get Shiloh on board.

Stretching out his wings fully, he took off flying high up above the clouds. It was safer that way – he’d argue to himself. That would be his defense if Enni happened to catch him. Heading in the direction of Shiloh’s house, he zoomed through the sky. This was his favorite state of being, although he could feel more and more feathers start to poke through his skin. He argued it was because Enni never let him fly enough – that was the reason why his control over shifting sucked. Nonetheless, he had arrived. Diving down, he landed right at Shiloh’s front door. He prayed that his friend’s roommates would still be awake, it was quite late after all. Hmm, maybe he should have thought this through more. Ronan pulled his wings flat against his back and tried to focus on withdrawing all of his excess feathers that had littered his face and body.

Nerves almost getting the better of him, Ronan willed himself to lightly knock on the door. It took a few minutes, but eventually the door opened, and he was greeted by Shiloh’s roommate Remi. Recognizing him as Shiloh’s friend, Remi lead him inside to Shiloh’s room. Ronan briefly thanked him before moving to wakeup Shiloh, gently shaking him.
