There's a box at her door, red and tied off with a ribbon. Inside lies a pink, feather satin robe, expensive to the touch, and what Avil, like many others, calls the "No, of course I didn't kill my old, rich husband robe." A note with the words "Thank you for the chocolate" accompany it. @poppicede
The last thing she ever expected was a ‘thank you’. For Avil to shed tears over her little offering, It isn’t a day they dare mention since. Quietly sharing chocolates in front of Marlow’s shop was their little secret. An unspoken tender moment she finds surprising to this day.
She wanted to reach out. To comfort. --but all she could do was sit by his side and share a treat in silence. He didn’t seem keen in sharing. Why pry into something that’s none of her business? It shouldn’t concern her. She shouldn’t care. He hates her, right? And she hates him back. At least she’s supposed to. Though, she’s always cared the teensy tinsiest bit....hasn’t she? True, she doesn’t totally hate his guts and maybe, just maybe, Avil doesn’t totally hate her back either. Why else would she have a pink, feather satin robe in her hands?
No one will ever believe her, though. As thoughtful and kind a gesture, it’s one more to add to their repertoire of secrets. Pretend like this never happened. Even to his face.
Just how long can they keep this up?
