“a hero will sacrifice her to save the world to show he’s pure of heart and good and honest, but a villain will tear the world apart and burn it to ashes if she was ever hurt”
So something like this.
A whole kingdom taken over right? Year and years the hero and villain battled, legendary fights that would make the history books and be told for centuries and generations to come. But the hero didn’t win. He gave up his girl to save the world. It was a waste. She died in vain. He lost. He would never return. Golden locks of hair they sway as he marched away. Banished. The villain had won the war. The hero banished away never to return. The villains lover. His beautiful woman. His and only his he had plans gone awry from her being out in harms way but did he ever think to let her go and continue with his own agenda? No. He saved her every time. He was loyal to the end. He never had anything to prove to anyone. No one but her. She was his right hand, she was his lover. She’d always be his lover. He’d burn the world again and again to keep her safe. Freeze over the oceans and seas if it was to keep her from drowning. Slaughter every village and bandit if they ever so much as lifted a finger in malice towards her. And now she sits with him as his queen. Through trials and tribulations they had won. Her love for him never dwindled. Her unfathomable trust in the man who’s killed village after village. Yes. Now she sits besides him her crown sparkling with beautiful rare jewels, and the finest gold and silver metals alike—twisting and curling to fit her head perfectly and round about the gems on her head. He had won. He had won the world. He got the girl. He got the kingdom. He got his throne. He got his crown. He won.

Summary: Midgard is very different from the other Nine Realms. Odin and Frigga decide to wed one of their sons to a Midgardian to bring peace to the realm, for that they will raise a suitable princess from Earth themselves.
“Thanks to the Tesseract the Bifrost has been restored,” you hear Odin’s voice.
You are sitting in the massive library looking for books to send to Loki. You have a number of them in your arms and you turn around to look at the All-Father.
“I know,” you simply say without bothering yourself with courtesies.
“Thor and the Asgardian army will be sent to clean up the mess that was created during our absence and once the Nine realms are at peace again, Thor will become king.
“Why are you telling me that?” you ask coldly, “Are you telling me that I have to leave Asgard?”
“No, on the contrary, I think your presence is greatly needed. You are loved by the people of Asgard. They look up to you, the admire, even adore you.”
“What’s your point?” you cut him off.
“The other realms don’t know you this way, for them you are only known as the guardian of Midgard and Loki’s wife. They don’t know you and the stories of Loki’s deeds will soon have spread all over the Universe, the stories of how your husband murdered innocent people on Midgard, on the realm you swore to protect.”
“And what do you think I should do?” you decide to ask.
“I offer you a new start, a new life if you will. I offer to annul your marriage to Loki as your sign of disapproving of his actions and you will marry Thor once the Nine realms are at peace,” he says calmly.
““Cursed be those who would seek to tear them asunder,” remember?” you echo your vows again, “Just because you refuse to look truth in the eyes, doesn’t mean I do the same,” you walk closer, “I know who is to blame for his actions, I know whose fault it is even if I’m the only one in the Galaxy who sees it that way. I will not let you sell me off again just so you could wash off the blood from your hands, just so you could create the illusion of order. I will always be loyal to Loki, even if I stand alone.”
“Then you too will be known as a traitor of the realm,” he says still as calm as before.
“So be it,” you clench your teeth and walk past him and leave the library, you know Odin won’t take it this easily so you decide to look for someone to have your back. You leave the books at your room and go to a door you have never knocked on before.
You don’t get an answer so you slowly push open the heavy door. You don’t see anyone at first so you walk in. You see Mjölnir on a tabletop so you know Thor will be back soon. You walk up to the hammer and look at the engravings in the strange metal. You know about the spell put on it so you gently wrap your fingers around it and prepare to try and lift it, but at the last moment you decide that you don’t want to know if you are worthy or not so you let go again and step away. You look at the big balcony of the room and walk up to it to see the view. It is then that you hear someone enter.
“Lady Y/n?” you hear Thor’s surprised voice and he comes up to you.
“Are you preparing to go off to war?” you ask.
“The realms need our help, Asgard swore to protect them, we have already failed at that, but bringing back peace is the least we can do,” he says, you realize how much he has changed since you first met.
“Have you gone back to Earth yet? To Jane?” you ask.
“No, I don’t think Midgard wants any more gods to grace them with their presence,” he sighs.
“Do you know about your fathers plan?”
“What do you mean?”
“He came to me today, he told me that after peace is restored, you will be king. He threatened me that I too will carry the name of traitor unless I annul my marriage to Loki as a sign of condemning his actions on Earth,” you explain.
“Traitor? You are loved by everybody, sister, but Loki’s actions were despicable, you know that,” he says.
“That’s not all,” you warn him before continuing, “He want’s us to marry because of the relationship I have with those people,” you look down at the shimmering city, “And he can’t afford to lose Midgard, I am the only connection and I doubt he would be too happy to make Jane the next guardian, I don’t think he is too fond of out kind.”
“Marry you?” he says and the words hit him, “I can’t marry you, you’re my sister...”
“I know...” you nod, “And I would never leave Loki’s side no matter what he did. You may have lost all hope in him, but it is my duty as his wife to stand with him.”
“I understand,” he nods, “So what are you going to do?”
“I don’t think there is much I can do,” you look away, “It is as you said, Midgard doesn’t need any more gods then it already has, but I did give an oath to protect them. I too broke that vow, but it is my job to do my best to correct their path and to do everything I can to fix the mess Loki created. I’m going back to Midgard.”
“What about Loki?”
“There is nothing I can do for him here.”
“I understand, little sister,” Thor takes you into his big bear hug.
As the illusion of Loki appears in front of you you smile, but he doesn’t answer with the same, his expression is restrained, careful not to give away what is going on inside his head, it has been like this after your very first visit. Quickly your smile fades away too as you remember why you visit him this time.
“Loki,” you say looking for a way to start.
He doesn’t answer.
“Loki I’m here to tell you...” you take a breath in, “I’m going back to Midgard, I’m leaving Asgard for good this time. I wish you could come with me, but... we both know you can’t. I have to bring back order on Earth, I must do my duty and it breaks me to leave you here, but I’m out of choices. Odin has plans of his own, but I refuse to play by his rules so I must go as there is no place for me here.”
“So you’ll want this back,” you takes the necklace from under his shirt, but you slowly shake your head.
“My heart... my life belongs to you, so keep if safe for me,” you give him a sad smile.
“I will,” he finally promises to you and hides the pendant away again.
“Goodbye, Loki,” you whisper, “I will forever love you.”
As you lean forward and touch your lips against his, but then the figure disappears and you are left with only a sickening feeling inside.

Summary: Midgard is very different from the other Nine Realms. Odin and Frigga decide to wed one of their sons to a Midgardian to bring peace to the realm, for that they will raise a suitable princess from Earth themselves.
Author’s note: This is kinda a prequel to the real onsehot(s) with Loki. Reading this part isn’t too important, but probably helps.
“The people of Midgard have lost faith!” exclaims Odin who stares into the void from the balcony.
“My dear, it’s not their lack of faith… They just have misplaced it and can you blame them, once we lived amongst them, we were a part of their lives, but not anymore,” the All-Mother said, “The Midgardian life is so short, if we lose focus for just a moment, many generations of them have been born, lived and died. We have been away for too long.”
Odin remains silent.
“This cannot continue. The Nine Realms must be united,” he said after a while, “Thor will take his rightful place on the throne soon, he will need a queen by his side.”
“Are you saying you want him to be wed to a Midgardian?” Frigga, Goddess of Marriage, didn’t like the idea of political marriages being in one herself, but he did understand the reasoning behind it.
“No, Thor will be married to someone influential, someone who can rule by his side with confidence and whose people are stronger and more important. Midgard has nothing to offer, not really, the people are weak and unruly, selfish and foolish. Loki will be burdened with that honor.”
Frigga looked at his husband, unhappy, but chose not to argue.
“You are right about Midgardians being unruly and difficult, the bride will need to be chosen carefully,” the All-Mother said.
“Not chosen, but taught. They are expendable, we’ll send staff to find someone suitable and teach the girl everything she’ll need to know,” Odin’s tone was cold.
“If you don’t mind, let me do it. Let me find a suitable bride from Midgard,” Frigga stopped when Odin looked at her, “It is a great responsibility that I don’t trust to servants.”
The All-Father seemed to agree with that argument, Frigga didn’t tell him that the true reason was Loki – she loved him like her own flesh and blood, if he had to marry because the command of Odin, he deserves to have someone kind and gentle by his side.
“So be it,”
1925, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania
Frigga walked into the yellow house. A sign on the wall read “Sunset Orphanage”.
“Hello, ma’am, can I help you?” a kind woman walked up to her.
“Yes, I’m hoping to adopt,” Frigga said.
The young woman looked past Frigga, “Do you have a husband with you?”
“My husband… he couldn’t make it today, he is a very busy man,” Frigga lied.
“Oh, I understand,” the woman nodded, “So, who are you looking for? A baby or someone older maybe? We have many fine children here.”
“I’ve always dreamed of a baby daughter,” the All-Mother said.
“Let us go to the nursery then,”
Arriving in a big white room, Frigga saw many little cribs two nurses where feeding babies and the room was filled with cries.
“We are terribly understaffed at the moment, but we do have a very sweet newborn baby with rosy cheeks just waiting to go home with you,” the nurse said and led Frigga to a crib that was empty. The nurse looked around and saw the child in the arms of a little girl.
“She was bored from looking at the ceiling so I helped her, nurse May, she isn’t hungry, but might need to have her diaper changed,” the girl said, she talked like an adult, but couldn’t be older than five.
“Thank you, can I have her now?” the nurse asked.
“Here you go!” the nurse took the baby and handed it to Frigga. “Oh, nurse May, James and Scott had a fight in the yard again! James took Scott’s toy away, but I gave him mine!”
Frigga listened to the girl whilst looking at the baby.
“You’re an angel, now off you go!” the nurse smiled as the little girl ran off.
“Who is she?” Frigga asked looking at the door where the girl had disappeared into.
“Y/n, she is a very sweet and kind girl, she has been adopted twice before, but… she can be difficult on parents, she talks a lot, she always wants to help and she is very curious, she is very special, I do hope she’ll get a forever home someday,” the nurse looked sad.
1943, outside Harrisburg, Pennsylvania
“Mother…” you look out the window.
“Yes, Y/n?” your mother, Maria, asked from the other side of the dining table.
“I wish your stories were true… The ones you’ve always told me… The ones about the mighty Gods…”
“What makes you think they aren’t?” Frigga asks.
“If they were true… why would the gods let people shed so much blood for no reason? Why would they be so indifferent?” you look at a young man, younger than you saying goodbye to his old mother, a military car waiting to pick him up.
“The Gods aren’t indifferent, they gave humans free will and freedom,” Frigga said, but she knew that wasn’t quite right.
“Free will… Is that what this is? Young men sent to die on foreign soil, to fight a war they didn’t start…” your heart hurt for the men and their wives, mothers…
Frigga looked at you and saw a true queen, someone fair and compassionate. She knew at that moment that you were ready to find out the truth.
“Heimdall, bring us home!” Frigga said out loud and you turned to face her with confusion.

Summary: Midgard is very different from the other Nine Realms. Odin and Frigga decide to wed one of their sons to a Midgardian to bring peace to the realm, for that they will raise a suitable princess from Earth themselves.
You stand in the tiny kitchen, looking out into the street. You are to your elbows wet with soapy water as you wash the dishes. You think back to the last time you had left for Midgard. It feels lifetimes ago, but it has only been 10 years, nothing more, but a blink of an eye in your long lifespan, but you haven’t stopped seeing and feeling time as a human.
Just a couple more months before you will return to Asgard for the next 5 years. This is the deal you had made with the royal family. 10 years on Midgard to fulfill your duty as guardian for 5 years on Asgard to fulfill your duty as a princess.
You are startled by a noise coming from the empty house. You are supposed to be alone, you have been for the last couple of days. You silently dry off your arms and creep closer to the door. You look into the doorway and see the familiar figure.
“Loki?” you ask and come out and face him, “I didn’t expect you for another couple of days.”
“I’m sorry, I didn’t mean to scare you,” he says, but he seems off a bit.
“What? What’s wrong?” you go closer. He is wearing a suit as he often does when among humans. You take his hands, “Tell me.”
“Odin announced his official heir to the throne,” he looks at you dead serious.
From his face and tone you already know, he doesn’t have to finish.
“I’m sorry, this ain’t fair to you,” you cup his cheeks and look him in the eyes.
He takes off his overcoat and leaves you standing there for a moment before taking you in his arms.
“I’m sorry, my queen. I’m sorry I can’t give you more,” he whispers into your hair.
“I don’t need more. I didn’t marry you for the throne, I’m not by your side so I can rule. I love you. The real you, Loki.”
“You didn’t marry me for yourself at all. You married me because you were raised you to do so. You were told to,” he sounds beaten, “It was an arranged marriage.”
“May be so, but that doesn’t mean anything anymore,” you look up, “What it was doesn’t matter, what matters is what I feel now.”
You kiss him and hug him tight.
“Come, we’ll talk about it. Let’s go and sit down,” you drag him into the living room and sit him down.
For the rest of the evening you talk about Odin and the royals. He talks about Thor and how he isn’t fit to be king. For the first time he really talks about his childhood and the way he grew up. You have never before realized how little you knew about this time. You had heard his warrior stories, but nothing from that time.
“I’m sorry for what Odin did to you,” you whisper as you rest your head in his lap and he plays with your hair, “Lies are the poison of life. I have felt it, I too was raised on lies, but my life turned out quite a bit better, I gained so much while you lost almost everything you were promised. I can’t imagine what it’s like and I’m sorry. I will do whatever what I can to help you, just tell me.”
“Just be with me.”
Loki half lays on the bed holding up the little girl above him. She laughs and reaches for him and he lowers her to give her a kiss before throwing her up again. They both laugh loudly and the golden sunshine fills the room.
You walk into the small bedroom, your son’s arms clenched around your neck and his face pressed against your neck. You sit on the side of the bed and watch as Loki sits the little girl down on his bare chest. He reaches out and strokes his son’s back who giggles and turns to face him.
“Why do they like you so much more than they like me?” you laugh and bow closer to kiss him. You sit the little boy on the bed helping him to stay up. You look at the twins.
“Is this enough?” you ask the man without looking.
“This is everything.”
You are happy, happier than you have ever been before with your Asgardian children and the former prince in your little house in the countryside. All you dream of is here, in the palm of your hand. No lies, no hiding, just you and the man you love raising your children as who they are, not as who they are supposed to be. No princes, no princesses, just as children.
You open your eyes in the middle of the night. Loki has his arm around your waist and you look into the darkness of the bedroom, you can still feel the happiness you had felt in your dream. It felt so real and it left you feeling empty and uneasy. You place your hand on his that rests on your stomach.
You wonder how it would be. To have a family with the man you love and what the title would mean to your children. Could you raise your kids the way you wanted? Could you possible keep them safe from the lies and intrigues of the royals?
You sight, you know you can’t have that, you can’t let them be children. You could never let them grow up as happy as Midgardian children. They would be kept in the golden palace surrounded by wet nurses and guards. The dream of the little house in the countryside would be just that - a dream.
How fast you had gone from a happy dream to a sad thought, but you know it will come sooner or later. You stroke his hand and through his dream he intertwines his fingers with yours witch puts a smile back on your face.

Summary: Midgard is very different from the other Nine Realms. Odin and Frigga decide to wed one of their sons to a Midgardian to bring peace to the realm, for that they will raise a suitable princess from Earth themselves.
“He will come,” Thor says, “Loki is a good warrior, nothing bad has happened, I’m sure he is just out to clear his head.”
You pace back and forth in the golden room, nervous and almost scared.
“Something’s happening, I can feel it!” you feel your throat tighten, “He hasn’t been himself lately. He hasn’t been himself for years.”
“I don’t know what you mean,” Thor looks genuinely confused.
“How can you be so arrogant and blind?” you look at him with surprise, “He is your brother! How can you not see? After you were announced as the heir he never was the same and time has only made it worse. And now that your coronation is just a fortnight away... he wants to be happy for you, I know he does, but that doesn’t change the fact that he was lied to.”
“He’s just envious, he should have known, I am older,” Thor’s expression hasn’t changed.
“This isn’t envy,” you sigh, “This is disappointment. He is still hurt. Whether you are older on not, it doesn’t matter. From your early childhood, you both were raised to be kings, the throne was promised to both of you. You were equals. After our engagement was announced he took it as conformation that he will be heir, that I was to be his queen.”
“To be fair, sister, I thought so too,” the man looks onto the kingdom from the window.
“And now you are treated as king while he is just a prince, nothing compared to you. I’m afraid for him,” you start pacing again, “I’m afraid he will do something foolish.”
You don’t tell Thor what Loki thinks, you wouldn’t betray either of them this way. Thor has to be able to trust his brother and you can’t reveal something Loki had told you in private as a sign of his trust. And after all, Thor is to be king, you can’t tell him something like this even if he sees you as a sister.
“Thor, we must do something,” you feel lightheaded, “No one has seen him since morning. He looked... determined. I asked him, but he brushed it off like it was nothing. He disappeared after that, I thought he was with you or training, but after I didn’t see him at dinner... Something’s wrong!”
You hear the heavy door open behind you and you turn around and see Loki coming towards you.
“My love,” he smiles at you and nods at Thor, “Brother.”
You run to him an almost throw yourself at him, but you feel him keeping something of a distance and you release him and take a step back.
“Where were you? What’s wrong?” you ask him, concerned.
“Nothing, love, I’m fine, everything is fine,” he kissed you on your forehead, “I just felt like clearing my head, being alone, there’s nothing to worry about, I didn’t want to bother you.”
“See, Y/n? Told you everything is all right!” Thor laughs and walks past the two of you. He playfully slaps Loki on his shoulder and leaves through the door.
You wait and listen for Thor’s footsteps to fade in the distance before looking Loki in the eyes.
“Why did you lie to me?” you ask him with a hint of anger, but mostly concern. He has never lied to you before, not that you know at least.
“I would never lie to you, love. Lies are the poison of life,” he echoes your words and you almost believe him as he puts an arm around you.
You stand behind the heavy door, your hand raised to announce your coming, but you freeze. You need advice, you need to talk, but is it right? There is only one person who could possibly help you, who you could burden with your problems, but you’re not sure if she exists anymore. You decide to live on with your worries. You turn around, but just as you’re about to leave, the door opens behind you.
“Y/n?” the gentle voice asks and you turn around to face Frigga.
“All-Mother,” you courtesy.
“Please, there is no need,” she cups your cheek, “You are my daughter. You’ve never had to bow to me and you never will.”
You look at her. It has been many decades since you last truly spoke to her.
“Can I talk to you?” you ask as you gently take her hand.
“Always, my child, come in,” she leads you into the room and sits you down on one of the cushioned benches, “What troubles you?”
“I...” you aren’t sure where to start, “I need... advice. I know I only just came back from Midgard, but I also have to go back soon, but I don’t know what to do. I’ve been trying so hard to fulfill my oath to protect them and show them that there is more to this universe and how close it really is, but there is only so much I can do. I want to make them see it for themselves, I use the powers I’ve been granted to do good. I have healed people who would have died otherwise with my magic, but even if they believe, others still call me a fraud, a charlatan, they don’t want to believe in us or other worlds. For them, all this is nothing but a legend, stories the vikings used to believe in. How? How can I make them see?.”
You don’t know that you’ve got company. Loki stands behind the door just like you had and listens.
“How can I keep my oath?” you look at the queen, ”I can’t make them believe and I can’t protect them, not from themselves. They are bloodthirsty and stubborn, they grave violence and they look for war. How could I possibly protect them from themselves? Please, tell me what I have to do.”
“My dear Y/n, I can’t help you,” she takes your hand, “Midgard isn’t like the other realms. Midgardias are, as you said, stubborn. That is why we chose you. When I went into the orphanage, do you know why I took you? Because you were so kind and so fair. You did everything you could for the peace and the happiness of others. I knew that if anyone could bring peace to Midgard, it would be this little girl. If I knew how to help you, I would do anything, but the only person who could possibly know the answer to your question is you.”
“Mother,” you stop, “All-Mother, I don’t think there is a gentle way to do this. I’m starting to think they wouldn’t even believe if the truth would stare them into the eyes.”
Loki is still listening behind the door, a little hurt that you didn’t come to him for advice, not that he really could’ve given you any good one. He decides to help you in the only way he could - show the people of Midgard the truth in a way that you can’t. He can take the blame and you can do good by the people. Maybe he can make you queen after all. He turns around and leaves, determined to do whatever he can to make your task as guardian easier.
“There is something else,” you revert your eyes, “I’m concerned for Loki. He hasn’t been the same.Thor doesn’t think it is reason to be concerned, but... I know him as do you.”
“Loki has always been different from his brother and I know how much we’ve hurt him. And I too have noticed how he has been acting lately. He thinks he can deceive everyone, but the truth is that the people closest to him still see, but this is the way it is meant to be, the decision has been made and I can only hope things will return back to the closest thing to normal as it was in the past after the coronation. He has you to fight for.”
“Mean to be? When was this decision made?” you look at her.
“Thor is the eldest, and in history it has always been this way, the eldest child will be heir. They were both raised to be kings, just as I raised you to be a princess.”
“So it’s true what he told me, he was raised on lies. Why is it so hard to tell the truth? What is it with you and lies? You lied to him just as you lied to me,” you jump up, upset, “You know, I forgave you, no matter the lies and deception, the illusion of freedom. I forgave you, because you were my mother, you gave me a home when nobody else did. Thanks to you I got to be with the love of my life, my long Asgardian life that I too got thanks to you. I forgave you.”
“And I’m thankful,” she follows you, “I never wanted to lie, I never wanted to hurt you or him. But you must understand. I wanted you to have a childhood, I didn’t want you to feel different. Just as I didn’t want him to feel different. We wanted him to be an equal to Thor. We just wanted the best, but we didn’t really lie to him. He could still be king just not in this realm.”
“Noble, but that is not a good reason,” you feel sad.
“One day you will have children of your own. Beautiful and sweet children and then you will know how hard it is to make decisions like these. You too will have to make decisions that will seem impossible to make, but you will do what is best for them.”
“One day maybe,” you sigh before leaving, more conflicted then you were before coming here.

Summary: Midgard is very different from the other Nine Realms. Odin and Frigga decide to wed Loki to a Midgardian to bring peace to the realm, for that they will raise a suitable princess from Earth themselves. Now the princess has been brought to Asgard and Loki decides to fulfill his duty as prince.
“This must be a dream,” you said as you walked to the balcony, Asgardian silks silently gliding over the floor behind you, “But it feels so real.”
“My dear, this isn’t a dream, all the stories you grew up on are true. The ones about the mighty Thor and handsome Loki, the battles of Odin… they are all true,” Frigga stood in the middle of the room, “I raised you to be an Asgardian princess so that you could help bring peace to Midgard and its people, to unite it with the other eight realms.”
“No, no, no, let me wake up,” you wrap your hands around yourself.
“I can imagine what it’s like for you. It must be a lot at once, but I do hope that you’ll start believing soon so that I can show you everything the Nine Realms have to offer and that I can introduce you to the princes, especially Loki who you’re meant to be betrothed to soon.”
“Loki?” you turn around in shock, finally realizing what was going on, “All these years you have fed me lies, you raised me like a pig to be married to someone who has lived for millennia before I was born. Viking knew him as a God! I am lucky to live to see 70, I’d die before he learns my name. And… what gives anyone the right to decide for me… what if I want to go back… if I want none of it…”
“Please, dear, be calm. Sometimes you are too hasty. No one can make you do anything, you are too stubborn for that and this is good. If you want to I’ll send you back right now, I’ll take all unwanted memories away and you can live a regular life,” Frigga comes closer, “But I hope you’ll stay, even if just for a little bit longer.”
“Thank you… All-Mother,” you say without looking at her, you are in pain, “Could I be alone?”
Frigga nodded to herself and silently left.
It was dark, but you saw the city in lights, the streets were almost empty and complete silence surrounded you. It was late and you knew you should go to sleep. You looked at the big bed, but it wasn’t inviting, instead you decided to go for a walk and clear your head. Walking through the big halls you were left alone, the guards in shiny armor ignored your presence and soon you managed to find your way outside, instead of the city streets you found yourself in front of a grand garden.
Walking through the fantastic garden, you see curious flowers and sculptures you could’ve never imagined. You got lost into your own amazement and were startled by a voice coming from behind you.
“Fair maiden, it’s not safe to be alone and in utter darkness outside of the palace,” the mesmerizing male voice said. You turned around to see a dark figure. Starlight bounced off the golden decorations on his garment, “Please, let me accompany you.”
“It would be very kind of you, sir,” you smiled lightly.
“I’m Loki, son of Odin,” the figure said.
“I’m very sorry, your highness, I meant no disrespect!” you said and bowed.
“There is no need, Lady Y/n,” you could see him smile, “It would be my pleasure.”
With that you walked in the garden and on the city streets for hours. He talked in a low, hushed voice so the two of you wouldn’t disturb the peace of the night. He showed you many wonderful buildings and statues, he told you stories you had never heard before.
You walked along the golden road, you were gently holding the snow white flower the man had plucked for you. The night was warm, but you had gone far from the palace and the winds that made waves appear on the waters surrounding the city were now playing with the silks of your dress. A shiver ran through you and it didn’t go unnoticed to the prince.
“How inconsiderate of me, I’m so sorry, you must be freezing,” he said with concern.
He took off the metal and leather overgarment he was wearing and put it over your shoulders without waiting for your answer. The leather was warm and smelled strongly and pleasantly of something that you couldn’t even describe.
“Thank you,”
“Shall we go back to the palace now?” he smiled.
“Not yet, please, tell me more,”
With that you walked along, he was fascinating and you even forgot that he was the high and mighty prince of Asgard, the God of Mischief.
“I remember my time on Midgard many hundred years ago. Your people are fierce and strong, but what I’ve heard they have quite the fantasy.” he said, amused.
“Do you mean to tell me that you do not have many children, including a wolf, a huge snake and an eight-legged horse?” you ask him teasingly.
“I can’t say that I do. There are many exaggerations in their stories.”
“Well, maybe you Gods shouldn’t have been away for so long then,” you look at him, the humor in your tone gone.
“You’re probably right, Lady Y/n,” he nods, “But that is a mistake we will fix over time. For now, pick your steed from the stables.”
You hadn’t realized that he had brought you to the stables where many horses stood silently, eating. You stepped in, they looked just like horses from the pasture near your house on Earth, but you felt them to be different.
“They are Asgardian horses,” Loki said as if he had read your mind, “They were breed to be warhorses, they would be quiet as the shadows, strong and fast, but never to tire.”
You locked eyes with a wonderful white stallion that towered over you as you got closer. Loki stepped past you and opened the fence gate and led the horse out.
“But I can’t ride,” you say as you stroke the animal’s neck.
“Don’t worry, he will do all the work for you,” the man said and saddled the white stallion and a black one from the other side of the stable.
When he was ready he stepped behind you and placed his hand gently on either side of your waist and lifted you up effortlessly to help you get into the saddle.
The two of you rode around the outskirts of the city where the buildings bet the forests, following a river you finally made it back to the palace garden. Once he helped you back onto solid ground you felt as if you were flying, you were so tired and all the troubled thoughts you had had were gone.
Loki helped you find your room in the maze of halls and stopped by the door.
“Thank you, your highness, I had a wonderful time,” you said with a smile.
“The pleasure was all mine, my lady,” he bowed and kissed your hand, “Good night.”
“Good night,” you said with the slightest hint of a blush. You closed the door between the two of you.
Loki’s smile disappeared as soon as you closed the door. He walked back the way you had come and soon saw Frigga standing by a window.
“I wonder why all the lights were out today in the garden,” Frigga said with a smile.
“I figured it would be best to get into it as soon as possible,” Loki said and stood next to her.
“I’m very proud of you, my son,” Frigga took his hands into hers, “You are dutiful and I know you will try to make her happy, but please, tell me, would you be happy with her by your side?”
“Can anyone be truly happy if they are forced to do something?” Loki’s eyes were sorrowful.
“I’m very sorry,” Frigga hated to see her son like this.
“Good night, mother,” he said and placed a kiss on her forehead before slipping past her into a dark hall.
Warning!: I’m a DramaQueen, so don’t expect anything less from my oneshots!
Summary: Midgard is very different from the other Nine Realms. Odin and Frigga decide to wed Loki to a Midgardian to bring peace to the realm, for that they will raise a suitable princess from Earth themselves.
Author’s note: As i said last time, I have problems with getting my tenses straight, sometimes I use present, sometimes past, I’ve decided to use the present tense now so maybe I’ll be better with the continuity now :D
Loki guides you through the corridors, you recognize the views from the arches and the patterns on the floor, you know that this is the way to your chambers.
“Did you enjoy the evening?” Loki asks you.
“They are all wonderful, very different from the people I used to know… but I could get used to it,” you smile.
“I’m glad to hear that,” he says, but with a hint of sadness, “You’ll make a wonderful queen, you have everyone’s support.”
“Is it so?” you stop and make him turn towards you, “In the end it doesn’t matter what they say. Do I have your support? You don’t have to answer right now, but it does matter to me and I’ll try to be worthy.”
Loki looks at you, you can’t understand what he might be thinking about, the look on his face confuses you. There is a bit of confusion, a bit of happiness, a hint of sadness… it is a mix of almost every emotion and at that moment you’d give anything to see into his head.
To break up the awkward situation you turn away your head and step away from him, you keep walking in the direction you know your chambers to be, keeping your gaze on the floor. He comes after you, but doesn’t stand as close to you as before. In silence you find your door, there you stop. You turn to Loki to say good night, but he gestures to the door. You’re afraid that you had offended him so you just push the door open, but the sight took you at a surprise. This is the door to your room, but what you see is a great big hall with a lit fireplace in the middle witch is surrounded by golden seats. The opposite wall to you is missing, the ceiling is held up by decorated pillars. You can see the city lights and even the sea and observatory in the distance. The floor is a golden mirror with floral ornaments etched into it. You have never been here before.
“What? How… I thought this was my room… I’m utterly confused…” you say as you step inside.
“Just a trick, an illusion,” you hear Loki smile, “You wanted to know how I earned my title… well, I have many more tricks up my sleeve.”
You turn and face him with amazement. He closes the door behind him and you see that it isn’t the door to your room, it is huge and covered in golden flowers.
“This is one of my favorite places to come to, I hope you aren’t too tired to sit with me for a moment longer,” Loki says and comes closer, he has a mischievous smirk.
“What are you up to?” you too smile a clever smile at him and tilt your head a little.
“I’m showing you just some of the tricks I know,” you hear a whisper in your ear and turn your head to see Loki’s face so close to yours, you look back at the figure in front of you and it disappears into green glow. Quickly you turn around and instead of Loki there stands Thor, but you had just left the feast, you know Thor is still there and in too good of a mood to stand this straight so it has to be an illusion. You stretch out your hand to touch him, but your fingers go straight through him and the figure bursts into hundreds of little birds that fly out into the night sky and turn into burning ambers.
You look around in the room and try to find the man, but he’s nowhere to be found. Guessing that he’s behind a pillar you walk towards the open wall, excitement filling your body you take the silks of your dress and rise them up so you wouldn’t trip while you almost jogged towards the pillars, looking around, you still can’t find the man. You carefully walk towards the edge, almost expecting to see him somewhere out there, but instead you hear a silent step behind you so you quickly turn around and see him. Loki comes closer and you take a step back, your smiling when you feel the balcony panel against you. With a wide smile he comes even closer until he towers over you and you feel yourself pressed against him and the panel.
“So you are full of mischief,” you smile.
His hands hold onto the panel either side of you and he looks very pleased with himself. Instead of giving in, you breathe out and make yourself thin and slide down and escape by slipping through from between his legs. You take the silks of your skirts and run across the room, you turn around and smile at him.
“Guess I’m not the only one,” he says and jogs towards you. You let out a laugh and run around the fireplace with him behind you until he appears in front. You couldn’t stop in time so you run into him where he wraps his arms around you before you could hit the floor.
He decides to show you another one of his tricks, he can’t see into your head or read your memories, but he finds one from your childhood, a happy memory and triggers it so you go limp and he carries you onto one of the couches.
You ran on the sidewalk by the house and jumped into every puddle you came across. Your little yellow rain boots kept your feet dry as you did so. Your raincoat dripped water and you could feel some of the rain finding its way under it, you felt your shirt getting wet, but you didn’t really care about it. You were so full of joy, you loved the summer rains as they were warm and often brought rainbows with them.
“Darling, come inside or you’ll catch a cold!” you heard your mother.
You walked towards her, looking at her a little angrily as you did so. Frigga, or as you knew her then - Maria, looked at you, smiling. This was your first summer with a mother, no longer were you an orphan and it filled your little heart with happiness so you went to your mother and hugged her as tight as you could.
You blink fast as you come back to your senses, you’re disoriented and confused as you pushed yourself up from the seat so you could sit there. The joy you had felt back then has turned into sorrow in your heart, still confused you feel your eyes getting wet.
“What was that?” you ask silently and try to hide your gaze.
“I’m so sorry, I’ve made you sad, it wasn’t my intention,” Loki says and kneels in front of you. He places his warm hands on your cheeks and turns your head.
“I thought it was a happy memory, I… I’m truly sorry,” he looks at you concerned.
“It was… It is, but…” you wrap your hands around yourself, “Was that all an illusion too?”
Loki lets go of your face and sits next to you and wraps his arms around you, pulling you against him.
“She couldn’t have been away from Asgard for all those years she raised me, could she? So it all had to be an illusion, a trick,” you still feel disoriented and confused, “I was raised on a lie, a lie of freedom and free will. What else was a lie?”
Loki brushes away the tears from your cheeks. He hated to see you like this knowing it was his doing, but there nothing he could say that would make any of it better so he just held you till you gathered yourself.
You pulled away and tried the last of your escaping tears, with a slight blush you apologize to Loki that you had lost yourself like that.
“It’s fine, it’s my fault so let’s just forget this ever happened,” he says.
“Yes, but… is it true? Was it all an illusion that Frigga pulled on me?” you ask him in a serious tone.
“Thor and I didn’t know about you until she brought you here, we never noticed her leave so it was either you or us, but she did fool someone,” he says after a moment of silence. And you just nod.
You sit side by side not saying anything. You look into the fire and how the light dances on the golden surfaces, the silence was comfortable, you didn’t feel like you should say something. Every now and then a gust of wind makes its way through the open wall and you can feel its cold contrast compared to the fire on your bare skin. You look at the man next to you and see the thick fabric of his cape and you feel it before pulling it from under him. Loki looks at you, confused yet amused and lifts himself so you have it easier.
“What are you doing?” he smiles as he sits back down.
Without saying anything you push off your heels and wrap the cape around yourself before curling up against him. Loki hesitates for a moment before putting one arm around you.
