Betty stared out at the frozen lake. She kept her arms around herself, hearing crunching behind her.
"I've got a bad feeling about this place, you guys." Betty said, looking at them.
"Maybe because Veronica decided to bring us here during winter." Jughead huffed. Veronica rolled her eyes.
"It's beautiful in the winter! Less bugs, we can go skating, sit by the warm fireplace.." Veronica smiled, pecking Archies cheek.
"Haven't you guys heard about the guy that died here?" Jughead questioned. They looked at him.
"It was a long time ago-"
"Save it for the campfire, Jug." Veronica cut him off. Jughead raised his hands, nodding.
"Yes, ma'am. Come on, Betty." Jughead gently took her hand, walking towards the cabin.
"So, Jug, tell me about this tale of yours." Veronica said, snuggling close to Archie.
"Well, a while back, a teenager named (Y/N) was out here with his friends. They were messing around, having fun, just like us, until (Y/N) was dared to go out onto the ice. He did it and three of his friends followed, the other two staying by the edge. It was revealed that (Y/N) had gotten close to a girl that one of his friends liked so, they ganged up on him. The ice ended up breaking and (Y/N) was sent into the freezing water. His friends got out okay and called the police. They searched the water for a body but never found it. They even searched during the summer once the water was warm but didn't find a body, bones, or even clothes. People came up with theories that the friends made it up and had murdered him or helped him run away. The friends returned on the anniversary of his 'death' and all of them went missing." Jughead told them the story as he stared into the fire. Betty couldn't help but glance over at the lake.
"Poor guy." She whispered.
"His so called friends deserved it.. How could you attack someone instead of talking it out?" Betty huffed.
"Oh, and, another thing... Anyone that comes here always goes missing or turns up dead." Jughead added.
"No wonder you seemed so happy to come." Veronica mumbled.
"Maybe, we should just stay the night and leave in the morning. If what you said was true, there could be a crazy person in these woods attacking people for no reason." Archie said. Betty nodded.
"He has a point." She agreed. The four flinched when a hard breeze blew by, causing the fire to go out.
"We should head inside." Veronica said, already shivering. Archie, Veronica, and Jughead headed inside. Betty wrapped a blacket around herself and stood up from her seat, glancing at the lake one last time before heading inside.
Veronica started up a warm shower, getting in. She washed her hair, frowning when the water got cold. Veronica turned the handle a bit to the side, feeling it get warm for a little. It went back to cold. Veronica huffed, turning it all the way to hot. She groaned softly when the water turned back cold.
"Whatever.." She mumbled, continuing to wash herself unaware that the room had been boiling hot. Veronica hissed when she felt stinging on her shoulders and arms, looking down. She screamed, trying to turn off the water as it suddenly went from cold to boiling hot, burning her skin even more. The door opened and Archie opened the glass door, getting Veronica out of the shower. Betty quickly turned the water off as Archie covered Veronica up with a towel.
"V? V?!" Betty didn't touch her out of fear that she would hurt her.
"Jug, call 911!" Archie yelled. Jughead entered the room, fumbling with his phone.
"I don't have service." Jughead said, quickly grabbing Betty's phone but faced the same issue. Betty stood up, rushing into the kitchen and getting bottled water. She entered the bathroom and gently poured the water over Veronica's skin to cool it down. Jughead found some bandages and wet them with the bottled water, wrapping them around the burns.
"I'll start the car." Archie said, standing up. He left the bathroom, heading to the front door. Archie grabbed the keys and went to the car, grabbing the handle and trying to open it. Ice covered the car, making it difficult to open the door. Archie turned around, flinching when he saw a guy.
"Christ, dude, I-" Ice cold hands grabbed Archies face, slamming his head back and against the car door window, causing it to shatter. Bits and pieces of glass stuck to the back of his head. Archie was released and he fell onto the snow covered ground, groaning.
"(Y/N)?" He groaned, cringing as he held his head in pain. (Y/N) remained silent, starimg down at him. He crouched down, grabbing a shard of glass. (Y/N) raised it above his head, bringing it down repeatedly on the ginger. Blood spilled and splattered onto the car and snow until Archies face was a gory and gruesome sight. (Y/N) dropped the shard, walking towards the cabin. He stepped onto the porch, leaving frosty footprints behind. (Y/N) entered the cabin, making the lights flicker a bit.
"Arch? Were you able to get the car started?" Betty called from the bathroom. She stood up, leaving Veronica alone. The door was wide open and Betty noticed snowy footprints leading into the house. She frowned, grabbing a lamp and unplugging it, using it as a weapon.
"Arch?" She called out softly, following the footprints. (Y/N) slammed the door to the kitchen shut, freezing the handle to the wall with a simple touch. He headed into the bathroom, glancing down at his work. Veronica had passed out from either pain or shock. (Y/N) grabbed a bottle of bleach, freezing it over. He held it above Veronica's head, watching her stir a bit. (Y/N) let it drop on her head. Because it froze over, it had become heavier so when (Y/N) dropped it, it smashed Veronica's head open. (Y/N) picked up the bleach container. Where her head once was, there was a puddle of blood and bits of her brain. Her eyes had been crushed and her teeth were broken. (Y/N) left the bathroom, noticing Jughead break the handle and help Betty out of the room she had been locked in.
"What the hell happened?" Jughead asked.
"I don't know! I think someone's in the house, we need to get Ronnie and go!" Betty urged. Jughead nodded, rushing into the bathroom.
"Jug? Jug, what's wrong? We have to go, now!" Betty frowned, following a frozen Jughead. She screamed, seeing her dead best friend. Veronica's body was still twitching. (Y/N) went over to the front door, undetected and closed it as the lights went out. Betty and Jughead went into high alert. (Y/N) opened the bottle of bleach and splashed it in Jughead's face. The male instantly held his face, screaming in pain as the chemical burned his eyes. (Y/N) dodged a lamp swing from Betty, stepping back. She broke the lamp against the wall, grabbing a shard. She panted softly.
"(Y/N), if that's you, please don't hurt us.." Betty said softly, gripping it tightly. (Y/N) stared down at her, frowning. Betty gently reached out with her other hand. (Y/N) knew this trick. He used the shard from the car window and stabbed her arm with it, dragging it back, leaving a large cut on her arm. Betty stood, gripping her own shard and swinging at him with it. (Y/N) simply grabbed her shoulder and stabbed her in the stomach with it. Betty let out a soft squeak and fell onto the ground, holding her bleeding stomach. As for her whimpering boyfriend, (Y/N) poured the rest of the bleach over his face. The chemical burned his eyes and face. (Y/N) turned around, looking at Betty as she stumbled and tried to get up.
"I'm not gonna get very far, am I?" She asked. (Y/N) stayed quiet, slowly following her as she stood up, using the wall. Betty ended up falling down the porch steps and groaning in pain. (Y/N) expected her to try to go over to the car but instead she made her way over to the lake. Betty stood up on wobbly legs, staggering onto the lake. She had so easily given up. (Y/N) followed her to the center of the frozen lake. Betty stared out at it before the ice under her feet cracked.
