Both Sonic and Amy are emotional empaths. It's just Amy shows that side of her a lot more than Sonic does because he just hides it well. It's one of the reasons why a lot of times why Sonic likes to be alone most of the time. Always out in nature and resting. Because he needs to care for his energy so he rests to recharge it.

Sonic is also a medium empath because he can see and hear those who have passed on he can feel their emotions

X Sonic is also a huge emotional empath. He was like this since birth. His dark form is pretty sensitive to negative emotions and his own as well. It's also one of the reasons why X Sonic, as I headcanoned in my other post, was tortured when he was younger. Also one of the reasons why he's so reserved and quiet.
