   He was walking through the woods, taking the trail that led to the old town. The remnants of where a small town had been, now nothing more than a few structures and foundations scattered through the woods. One path led to the magic-laden graveyard, the other to ruined train tracks covered up by years of falling, rotting leaves. Yet another path led to dugout tunnels with unknown origins. 

   He stopped to take in the scenery before heading on towards the graveyard. The newest grave had been dug almost seventy years before, around the time the town had been abandoned and rebuilt miles away. Stepping over broken marble monuments and pieces of what had once been praying angels and weeping women, Scottie paused and examined one headstone, the name and date worn away.

   Scottie heard something; it could have been his imagination. But he looked and caught the smell of someone unfamiliar. Someone else was there; he couldn’t tell how far away they actually were, owing to lack of depth perception. He waved a friendly wave.
