l. sophia x wrestler ! f reader âđ sophia's favorite wrestler returns to the WWE, sparking her interest in the business once again. but coming back to an old interest helps her find an angel whom she begins to obsess over.
word count ! 8.1 k tw ! mentions of blood, bruising, broken bones, and implied cheating.
author's note ! There is a lot of wrestling lingo, and this is also a fic of me nerding about something from my childhood⊠so I hope you enjoy that! AND PLS be patient with my return :> ill be working on a few things and have tons of wips.
Sophia is known to be the mother of Katseye. The responsible, reliable member, if you will, but despite being famous, thereâs a lot that isn't known about her. Like her love for the art of wrestling, but not the activity itself.
Itâs the entertainment factor that truly captivates her.
Seeing women going at it in the short amount of time they had made Sophia root for the women of the âDivaâs Eraâ in WWE during the early 2010s. Even with two to five-minute matches, that was all the Filipina needed to be hooked.
But what really had her watching was her favorite AJ Lee. At first she would watch every now and then, but when she decided to watch in March of 2015, she found herself lucky. From Sophiaâs research, AJ had been out for quite some time due to a neck injury and came back. The more she looked, the more she learned that the older had an amazing villain-like run a year back and was the longest-reigning Divaâs Champion to ever exist at the time.
In the span of a month, she was watching so many matches and learning so much about the wrestling world. How World Wrestling Entertainment had its own universe.
The men are superstars, and the women were previously known as divas. How the good guys are known as faces, while the âvillainsâ are heels. Or even the more in-depth things, like being stiff in the ring, meaning actual force instead of the choreographed moves in a safe manner. How their wrestling names are never really their real names. Even finding out what kayfabe was, practically the art of acting, or the line of WWE making storylines feel real. She even knew the types of wrestlers, the rosters on all three shows the WWE has, and even knew most names of moves.
It became her whole obsession for a good year until she realized that AJ had left the company, and her love slowly fizzled away.
You are a whole different case. Being the only girl in a family with three older brothers and one younger brother, you had been exposed to so many things considered incredibly boyish and masculine years ago.Â
Claude and Corbin, two of your older brothers, usually hogged the living room on Friday nights since the weekend would roll around. You knew it was the usual routine, but that night you really wanted to watch Phineas and Ferb for some reason.
The routine on Fridays after school would usually be that all five of you would come home from your after-school activities.Â
You would come home after your dance practice with your team, finish your homework, and play with your dolls. Your brothers would usually take over the living room, since they shared one room and the living area had the most space.Â
Your youngest brother, Marcus, still slept with your parents, while the oldest would stay over at your grandparents' house over the weekend while in high school. You had your own space and room, but this time you really wanted to watch television.
Usually, letting them watch, they were surprised to hear your light steps coming down the stairs.Â
You wanted to outright ask, but once you stepped foot on the floor, your eyes landed on the bright, large box TV. Flashing across several angles was a large man in a black hat, and one that looked badass as his entrance had so many âfireworksâ.
Thatâs what you thought they were as a kid; now knowing it's pyro.
âWho the heck are they?âÂ
Corbin raised a brow, turning towards you to find your face staring in awe at the screen. His face morphs into confusion while he answers, âThe Undertaker and Batista?â
Your feet move on their own, eyes glued to the TV, planting your butt down on the couch in between your brothers.Â
âWhat are they doing in a cage?â
The older of the two, Claude, keeps his focus on the match, but answers your question. âItâs called a steel cage. Theyâre fighting for the World Heavyweight Championship.â
The rest of the show, you stayed quiet, just enamored of the superstars' capabilities. Your brothers loved it just as much, because instead of you making fun of them when they played, you had gone on to join them and do wrestling moves as well.
That caused many bruises and a couple of sprains on your end, but it had suddenly come with the territory of wanting to be part of the business. Something that you concluded when you turned twelve years old.
Imagine you sitting with your younger brother, Marcus, in the back seats of your familyâs van. You're wearing a blue obnoxious John Cena âU Canât See Meâ shirt and yell over the radio, âIâm gonna be a WWE superstar when I grow up!â
Your dad chuckled, but your momâs eyes grew wide like saucers. Both were supportive of what you wanted, but they truly believed this was a phase that wouldnât stick.Â
Well, they thought completely wrong.
Even with the small amounts of bullying and teasing you faced as a kid because of your dream, you asked your father to enroll you in an actual wrestling school.Â
Being from New Jersey, finding one was quite simple, and with the athleticism you had, The Monster Factory school easily took you in at fourteen. The first two years were training, small bumps, and overall getting your young body used to the environment. That became working in the indies or smaller, unknown businesses for three years.
In the business, you started to love the feeling of being high in the sky. Doing flips, tumbles, and slowly learning who your favorites in the business were while growing into your own person. It was people like Jeff Hardy, Rob Van Dam, and Lita, to name a few on your idol list.
At the age of 20, you were invited to a WWE tryout in New Jersey after a clip of you doing a straight-up punch and âknocking a wrestler outâ went viral. Your work, ironically, was stiffer than what the WWE was used to, but they were slowly bringing in wrestlers who had that background as well.
After a year of training, you finally debuted in NXT two weeks after your twenty-first birthday. The initial gimmick was bright bubble gum, and very cutesy⊠something you absolutely hated. Yet the previous head of creative, who was also your boss, loved the idea.
Likely because your frame was still petite, and a bit on the shorter end, so you just fit that image for him.
Once your boss had been replaced with your current one, you slowly got to have more freedom with how you presented yourself to the fans. In your previous character, you would constantly skip everywhere, jump when excited, and smile in almost every interaction on screen. Your hair was bleached to pink, going up in pigtails as you looked all jolly even while fighting someone.Â
Now, there were many ups and downs for your run in the business, but in the last year, you have basically skyrocketed in popularity.
You have now been on the main roster for a year, and you are currently about to end the biggest feud in your career.Â
The feud with Sophiaâs favorite wrestler, AJ Lee.
Six months ago, your heel turn was drastic, which elevated your character. The gimmick is now a fallen angel, but the fans have also deemed you as âThe Anomalyâ of WWE. For the preparation of AJâs return after being away from the business for 10 years, they needed a very good heel.
One heavily narcissistic, egotistic, yet confident, and they easily built you up as that in the audience. You're this elegant, yet ignorant like âgoddessâ in the eyes of the fans.
Everything you and AJ worked together on led up to this moment. The biggest moment of your career so far, a ten-minute match at Wrestlemania 42 for the Womenâs Intercontinental Championship, which AJ was currently holding after defeating another wrestler.
And it may have been a long road, but winning this title specifically was only the beginning.
Despite her packed schedule, Sophia made sure she was able to go to Las Vegas for Wrestlemania. I mean, why wouldnât she? She got the tickets for free.
When finding out she was a fan, AJ reached out, and the two quickly became friends, with the superstar offering two tickets to the event. That ended up with her asking Leon if he was willing to go, and the man flew across oceans to be able to.
Her lovely boyfriend, Leon.
Sophia didnât know if her life was equally as hectic, but when they entered through the arenaâs VIP entrance, the amount of staff running around frazzled her and Leon. People wearing black polo shirts, black slacks, and black shoes were just going in every direction. Some pushed large road cases, some held clipboards with stacks of paper, some rolled multiple clothing stands that had lots of fabric and materials.
She shouldâve expected the business, but she forgot the company needs tons of people to support a full roster of individuals.Â
Before coming in, AJ informed the two to come backstage and meet her.Â
After a long walk down a white-painted hallway, then a right and left down two others, Sophia sees the woman in her chair, getting her makeup done with a few other wrestlers around.
âOh my god?!â One gasps, which has AJ turning her head behind to find the Filipina walking up, a cheesing look on her face.
âSophia! Iâm so glad you guys are here!â
Without hesitation, the older gets up from her makeup chair and hugs both. âWouldnât miss the offer you gave me.â
AJ smiles at this and pulls her over to the small group. âSo, this is my husband Phil, Carla, and Demi.â
âOh, I know who they are,â Sophia expresses, eyes practically twinkling while Leon nods in agreement. CM Punk points at himself with this soft, surprised look, and Sophia gestures an offended look, âAs if Iâd ever forget the man who did a pipebomb against the company.â
The three ladies giggle at that, and Sophia looks at the other two, âAnd I keep up with Raw enough to know Roxanne Perez and Rhea Ripley.â
The young Latina looked all giddy, while Rhea looked impressed at Sophiaâs wrestling knowledge so far.Â
âAre you ready for your match?â The question was asked with such innocence, but you could almost feel Punk wince at it. AJ kept her eyes shut as her makeup artist worked, shaking her head and giving an optimistic, âNope! Not ready whatsoever!â
âSheâs just adding a lot of pressure to herself. Sheâll be great out there,â Sophia hears the thick Aussie accent and nods over to Rhea to show support.Â
CM Punk nods at his wife, using his water bottle to point at her, âShe also has a trustworthy opponent out there.â
âYeah! Y/nâs great,â Roxanne exclaims as she listens in.
âY/n?âÂ
Your name comes out as a question, accidentally fleeing from her lips before she can even process the thought in her mind. It makes Rhea chuckle a bit. âI thought you caught up with Raw enough?âÂ
Sophia felt the tease in the older womanâs tone, making her giggle. âI may have missed some people,â she states in defense. She looks over at Leon, who chuckles a bit. âSheâs a talented high flyer in the business. Debuted on the main roster like a year ago.â
âDing ding ding!â AJ says, eyes still closed but hands trailing to her Intercontinental Championship that was shimmering under the bright lights, standing itself up on the table with its straps.
âNever seen a real championship in person.â
âWanna hold it?â The wrestler offered, and Sophia squealed a bit, âIâd be honored to!â
AJ puts it in her arms, and the Filipinaâs eyes widen, not expecting its weight to be as heavy as it was.
âThatâs what gold feels like,â Rhea expresses, sighing because she knows the exact feeling of holding one for the first time. Her first win replays in her mind after all.
After a while, Roxanne expressed how much of a fan she is of the group, and pictures were taken for twenty minutes until everyone realized the show was about to start.
âWe should get going,â Leon tells the group, and with a couple of goodbyes, the duo makes their way into the packed area where ninety percent of people were beginning to filter into the space to get to their seats.
The two are sitting a row behind the front, getting an amazingly clear view of the ring, and Sophiaâs mouth is gaping. âI didnât think it would be that big!â Leon was in his own state of awe, but as the announcements blared out for everyone to get in their seats, the two listened to the two commentators' voices beginning to blare from the many speakers.
The show started off with a tag team match, three versus three, and imagine the shock on Sophiaâs face seeing iShowSpeed come out. The match was impressive for the fact that it was Speedâs first official match, but he showed a good amount of athleticism as well. The good guys won that match, and it was getting Sophia hype for the following matches.
There were two more before AJâs, one of which was a whole movie in itself due to it being an unsanctioned match. Basically meant anything goes, and it had Sophia yelling from the top of her lungs. The match after was basically one of Sophiaâs dreams to even watch during the era she got into it. Two women from the Divaâs era versus a mix of faces; luckily, Sophiaâs pick took the Womenâs Tag Team Championship home.
She was trying to come down from that exciting high by the time they were announcing AJâs match to be up next. Which is also where she found out your proper in-ring name.
Seraphina.
The graphics of you and AJ werenât properly in view since they were pretty much almost right above her, so there wasnât a clear view of your face just yet. Until the match was properly being announced by one of the ring announcers.Â
Sophia gripped the sides of her chair to make sure she didnât bounce off her seat from all the adrenaline coursing through her veins. So desperately did she want to see her favorite move in action.
Before she could wrap her head around what was happening, the sound of a grungey rock guitar playing. The titantron was black, with cracks of white and grey, and half an angel wing made out of bones with Seraphina in this blood red, script font on top of it.
As the song hits what seems to be its chorus, Sophia realizes she recognizes the song, which is rare. Due to artists and their companies having the copyrights to the song, most wrestlers have entrance music that comes from the company. But no⊠not this one.
âGoing Under? Like by Evanescence?â Sophiaâs eyes are wide as she asks in general, but mainly to Leon, who answers her question with a quick yes.
Hearing Amy Leeâs vocals ringing in her ears, she expected a very rock, leather-heavy suited woman, but Sophia pauses as you come out.
You're sauntering down the ramp towards the ring, wearing a fully sheer dark grey fitted jumpsuit, designed with large oval holes and cuts throughout it. Underneath, a black bodysuit covered you enough, but exposed everything you particularly wanted. The top of it was a halter cut that went up to your neck, and the sides were sewn together to make it look like someone stapled together the front and back of it.
Sophia looks at every inch of you, head to toe.
Like how your black boots that went up to just below your knees and blended with your kneepads were made out of a suede material unlike everyone else's leather boots.
On your waist wrapped a dark red fabric that looked like a loose âbeltâ draping over your waist, but it was stitched on. Many gold chains and white leather straps looped through some parts.Â
But Sophia has yet to see your face.
You wore a robe and headwear thatâs sheer black until the hood, where it seems to be heavily layered to hide your face. The best way to visualize it, think of Dune vibes in real life.
The way the attire was made to fit you like a glove. It was sickening to say the least. It felt like it should be in a museum. She clearly sees how your tattoo-filled body would look unclear underneath the fabric, yet look strikingly detailed through the holes on your legs and cuts at the sides of your waist.
You had these gloves that made the tips of your fingers look black and fade back into your skin color.Â
Part of your entrance is passing by Sophiaâs section and going all the way to the other side to enter the ring. That's where she sees the bottom half of your face, your lips designed with a drastically dark red inner lip, extending even to the edges of the lips, giving it a creepy-like effect, then an upside-down triangle on your full bottom lips, sides curving a bit and sharp end fading into your chin with a reflective gold effect.
That itself felt so enchanting to Sophia.
She doesnât even know it, but catching her in the crowd almost fully caught you off guard. Needing to snap back into character quickly, you took the delicate turn, walking sensually until you reached the point where you went into the ring.
You were the type to use the stairs, needing to look âproperâ.
When slipping into the ring, as you stand in the middle, you spread your arms straight out and look up at the sky. The fabric drapes down your arms, giving a subtle âwingâ look without having actual wings, which you believed would be corny.Â
Once you look straight at the camera, pyro from all four corners of the ring fly up, and they dim the lights a bit while putting a decent spotlight on your face.
Sophia can barely hold it together when getting a full view of your face. Your eye makeup was âsimpleâ enough but not like your usual on-screen, television look. Instead of the cool grey eye shadow, you had a black smoky eye with a red shimmer in the center of both your lid and bottom lash line, little hints of white reflected in the inner corners of your eyes.
And the best part? You were crying gold.
To a first-time watcher, this would likely look too much. Yet this is exactly what Sophia almost longed for. The uniqueness that the new era seemed to lack nowadays. Which there was nothing wrong with the leather, shorts, and straps and things like that, but there wasn't much identity in her opinion.
But this was yours, and she loves it.
To the point where she doesn't even realize AJâs music is playing, and sheâs already skipping the ring, with little girls following her as part of it.
She just keeps staring at you, leaning your bottom on the second turnbuckle, arms relaxed across the top ropes. Your eyes are following AJ around at first, but as she passes the Filipina, you canât help but stop and look.
Which is perfect as you catch her staring back.
It wouldâve been the perfect time for Sophia to look away, but she canât. Like sheâs cursed if she ever looks away from you. Lucky for her, you're pulling yourself up, and your match is about to begin.
âThe following contest is scheduled for one fall, and is for the Womenâs Intercontinental Championship!â
Before she says more, you lower your head as she begins to announce more. âIntroducing first, the challenger, from Hoboken, New Jersey, The Anomaly Seraphina.â Your robe falls clean to the ground, and you spin slowly as she gives your introduction, arms spread once more.
Itâs like Sophia canât focus on anything else for the rest of the night.
She just watches you do your thing in the ring, doing many aerobatics and risky moves. The match riled up so many people; the mix of it being fans loving the nostalgia, how creative you are in the ring, and the storytelling just kept building and building through actions.Â
The many false countouts had her on the edge of her seat, but only when you were about to lose.Â
So once you actually won the championship, Sophia felt like she could actually breathe again. Not realizing how odd it was for her to be cheering for the heel in this situation, she jumped in joy, and as you celebrate in a âdemureâ way, the excitement from her really catches your eye this time, a small smile hidden as you look down and hug the title against your chest.
This was just the start of your blossoming career, and there would clearly be more to come. Not just career-wise, but maybe even in your love life.
Nothing happened after that night. Sophia herself wishes that wasnât the case, but it was.Â
Apparently, after your match, you decided to leave due to some pain after the match. AJ kept Sophia updated enough so that she wouldnât worry, âItâs not anything horrible. Just something she needs to rest on and sheâll be good as new. Besides, sheâll have Raw on Monday so she âhasâ to be okay.â
Which she took her word for⊠literally. Now Sophia is sitting on the couch, watching Raw on Netflix while texting Leon every now and then.
He, of course, went back to the Philippines, so Sophia was left all alone in her home, brain rattling over her newest obsession. In anticipation, Sophia almost wished the show went fast forward until you segment, yet once she finally does, she almost short-circuits.
She didnât think about what you would look like in more normal clothes, but dear gosh, did Sophia tweak a bit. Almost wiggling around in her seat as you came down in a wine purple lace cardigan that has flaring long sleeves. Underneath is a black bikini top, a pair of black capris, and black stiletto heels.
Your walk down the ramp was similar to the one two days ago, but now you had the championship on your shoulder. While grabbing the mic as you come up, she realizes this is the first time sheâs hearing your voice and seeing your character completely in action. That, and all Sophia can hear through her speakers is, âYou deserve itâ from the crowd.
You evidently blink your happy tears away and look at the crowd in disgust.Â
âNow you all want to cheer?â
The question shuts the audience up. Not because of the question itself, but because of your voice. It cut through the cheers in such a monotone way, offended that they decided to cheer for you now.
âItâs the audacity you all have to decide when you want to rally behind my back only once I have gold.â
Your pointing finger jabs at your title as you speak, and Sophia sucks in a breath after hearing this authority from you. The way your voice grumbles, gravelly yet monotonous, mocking the fans.Â
You look around, turning slowly as you stare at a decent amount of faces. âOnce I get somewhere, thatâs when you all care.â
The sound of your small chuckle echoes through the microphone, sending chills down Sophiaâs spine.
âJust a bunch of fake followers who canât think of an original thought, huh?â
Ironically, the crowd cheered more and even louder than before. Your purple-lined, pink-glossed lips grinned, and that smile really locked in for Sophia.
Gosh, you were one of the finest people she had ever seen.Â
Your appearance was one thing, but how you carried yourself was another.
Someone could argue that she is only attracted to your character, but she was honestly okay with that for now.
As sheâs in her own thoughts, you're still cutting a promo in the ring, but as your voice raises louder, sheâs reeled back in.Â
âI am, and I always will be the greatest Intercontinental Champion you will ever lay your eyes on. No one will ever change-â
As you seem to be ending it, someone elseâs music interrupts you. Sophia knows who it is: one of the greatest high flyers in the business, Iyo Sky. Now this was a feud she was willing to keep up with.
Thatâs when the obsession goes into the next level. The deep end.
The next couple of weeks, Sophia made sure to watch every single RAW. No matter what her schedule was, she would make sure to have her phone on Netflix. During dance rehearsals, workouts, before interviews, video shoots, or even photo shoots, she made sure to watch.
Yoonchae and Megan would even watch certain segments from time to time with her.
Not only was she keeping up with the show, but Sophia was trying to learn almost anything she could about you.
On her first couple of searches, most of the information was quite surface level. Your wrestling name is Seraphina, but while in the Indies you were known as Jade Spinel. Your birthday is in August; you're a Leo and a 2000s baby.
That led to her watching interviews, podcasts, streams, and behind-the-scenes videos youâve been in. Maybe it was starting to become a problem.
She now knows you have three older brothers and one younger one, and how your mom worked two jobs to help your dad pay for everyoneâs extracurricular activities. Your favorite color is forest green, your favorite food is avgolemono soup from a place called Greek Town, your favorite artist is Frank Ocean.
By the time the next Premium Live Event, Sophia would ace a test of it were based on you.
It is a bit creepy, but she began to realize that sheâs just fangirling hard. So she decided she would be at Backlash, the next PLE.
On her way to the Benchmark International Arena in Florida, listening to Leon argue her ear off about why she was going without him. âI wanted to see the matches! The cards tonight are pretty good!â
âPhi, really good? Since when did you care about Jacob Fatu and Roman Reigns?â
Sophia scoffed and exclaimed, âIâve been watching a lot more WWE in general; I donât think itâs anything that crazy!â
âAJ hasnât even been on screen though! I donât understand where the sudden love came from!â Leon grumbles, and Sophia rolls her eyes at him. âCanât a girl find a new interest?â
âRight, because you easily get hooked on things, huh?â
âWhatâs that supposed to mean?â She scoffed back, biting back her tongue from saying more.
âEver since we were kids, you need something to catch your eye to find interest in it. So something must've happened while we were at Wrestlemania. You flew all the way to Florida just to watch! This wouldnât just be some petty little thing you decided to get into.â
That makes her stop for a minute, trying to think of anything to say to him, but all she could think of? Heâs a hundred percent correct.
âI donât want to talk about this anymore. Iâll call you when I'm at the airport later.â
âSophia, wait-â
She ends the call so fast, her heart beating quickly as she rests her hand on her chest. She wasnât going to let him ruin this night for her, not at all.
If anything, this should be amazing, as once Sophia bought her tickets, WWE reached out to HxG to upgrade her seat to the front row, and so they could announce her watching. She wasnât only going for her own enjoyment, but sheâs also representing Katseye in public once again.
While Sophia was in a car, on the way there, you were slowly getting ready. Sitting down on the makeup chair, Chelsea is getting her own makeup done behind you. You knew she would likely be wearing some crazy gear, and that thought itself made you giggle.
Your makeup artist is applying a plum color on your lids as you hear Chelsea behind you, âYou winning tonight?â
âYeah,â it escapes your lips almost as a sigh, and melts in your chair. âGonna be stiff as hell match.â
The statement makes you giggle, fully knowing you and Iyo are likely going to use a lot of force on each other, and it is surely going to hurt.Â
âIâm assuming your gear is gonna be blues and purples?â
âOh yeah, I got this one newly made. More of a dystopian look to it.â
The two of you chatted, right up until you had to change and get your hair done. This time, your hair is in a half-up, half-down style, with the front two strands now colored white.Â
As you're ready and enter the gorilla, you begin to stretch more, getting into character. You hear your music begin and go through the curtains. Each step you make is careful, making sure each foot steps right in front of the other. All the lightweight fabrics layered on top of you flowed with the slight wind.
It wasnât a major event, so you kept your entrance the same, but as you turned the first corner, you saw her again.
Sophia Laforteza.
The past month, youâve been really busy, but when you could catch a break, her smile in the crowd is all you can imagine.Â
And now seeing her again truly gives you butterflies in your stomach.Â
You enter the ring, and even almost stumble in, but recover well enough that you look natural, spinning with your title wrapped around your waist. It was a relief that everything you did up until the actual match was muscle memory and things youâve all rehearsed, because as Iyo comes out and you're both introduced for the title, your mind is constantly clouded with just Sophia.
It scared you. You wrapped around her finger, without even speaking to her. A silent connection that can have you possibly making big mistakes in the ring.
The bell rings loud in your ear, taking you out of whatever loop your brain was deciding to go through. Both of you circle around the ring once, then lock upâIyoâs left hand pressing against your neck, the other on your arm, and you grip her the same way.
With the height difference, you easily put her into a headlock, squeezing just hard enough. She then pushes you off her, and you bounce against the ropes, then pull her down into a vicious clothesline.
You try stomping on her stomach, but fail as Iyo rolls out from underneath and gets up immediately. The drop kick to the upper half of your body comes in full force, making you fall and clutch your chest, wincing at the impact.
Iyo does her best to pick you up, dragging you a bit to one corner. Your head is held in a reverse headlock style, and she runs up the three turnbuckles, then jumps back into the ring, where you faceplant into the ring mat.
The Japanese tries to pin you, but you quickly kick out at one. She tries dragging you again, but you kneel on one knee, beginning to fight back with punches straight to her abdomen. Finding your balance, you give a spinning back kick to the midsection, then roundhouse kick her to the head.
Itâs only two minutes in, and Sophia realizes that this wasnât going to be a normal match to watch. You guys work incredibly well with each other, to the point that everything looks so smooth and fast-paced.
You jump up to the second rope, doing a springboard moonsault, landing straight on Iyoâs abdomen area. Rolling off of her, you taunt the crowd with the hand behind your ears as if you're trying to hear them, then look in disgust as you blow it out of your hands, not willing to listen.
Grabbing Iyoâs red locks, you pull her up a bit, just enough for her to kneel. Sheâs staring up at you while on her knees, still weak from the flip. And if only Sophia could describe how flustered that made her. She feels how the temperature rises in her body, cheeks and neck feeling warmer than before. Her stomach feels a bit queasy, and she rapidly blinks in her seat.
Oh, only if she and Iyo could switch places.
You smack Iyo a bit, toying with her while sheâs still on her knees until she has enough. Grabbing the side of your head, she puts one knee up and pulls you right on her kneecap.
Falling back, Iyo pulls your body, tossing you right into a corner where sheâs able to climb and hop up on your shoulders, tossing you with her legs by doing a huricarana. Flipping over to the center, the stinging sensation on your back has you finding the pain with your hands.
The match continues with Sophia watching, lips slightly parted in awe. Every strike you both gave each other seemed exceptionally harder than the last. Your punches looked intense, but what really gets Sophia is when Iyo sticks you in the corner once more and gets a knee kick.
There's this echoing slap sound when it lands, echoing through the front couple of rows in the arena, and many fans recoil at the sound. It couldâve been your mouth, teeth, nose, or cheek, yet no one really knows yet.
Thatâs until Iyo pulls away and you're seated tiredly in the corner. You lick a bit, mainly to help with the dryness, but you taste the metallic flavor on the edge of your lip. It makes you smirk, lying your head back on the lowest turnbuckle.
Raising your hands to the second rope on each side, pull yourself up like you're rising from the dead. From Sophiaâs view, she only sees your back sideânot that sheâs complainingâhow you look like you're huffing and puffing with the way your shoulders rise and go down.
Iyo tries running at you, but you easily trip her. Taking her right leg, you squeeze it in between your legs, then wrap your locked hands against her neck. This stretches your opponent upward while you hold her bottom half down.
Now, Sophia has the perfect view of your face. Not only that⊠but you're looking directly at her.
While you're holding the move, Sophia sees the blood dripping down the side of your mouth, eyes locked on her. How your mouth would clench sometimes, gritting as you use as much strength as you could to wear Iyo out.
You lick the side a bit, cleaning a bit of the fluid you can and smile.
Sophia couldâve gone feral right there.
Iyo then rolls and reaches out a hand to the rope, having the referee break you two up. By then, the ref also easily voices that thereâs a minute left to your guys' match, so you have to finish it. When you're both up on your feet, you easily spin her around and German suplex her.
Iyo lies on one corner of the ring and climbs up to the top turnbuckle.Â
When you jump, in one fluid motion, your body executes a full front flip while rapidly spinning as you go down. You do two rotations at the same timeâone vertical and one horizontalâbefore perfectly flattening out to land stomach-to-stomach. Sophia had seen it time and time again in her research.Â
Apparently, due to AJ being well known for her submission, you used your own submission on her. That move was still sick, but this was absolutely insane.
Sophia is on her feet, guttural screams from her soul with an angry look on your face that meant âvictoryâ.
âHere is your winner, Seraphina~!â
You raise your title above your head, one arm holding it up with an irritated look in your eyes. From the corner of your eye, you catch Sophia cheering in such an insane manner for you that you almost break.
If you couldnât meet her tonight, you were going to find a way to get her attention; thatâs for sure.
The next day, Sophia is already back from Florida, and the fight that she had with Leon has them practically non-verbal with each other right now. But again, Sophia can care less, because seeing this in your story really sets something ablaze in her.
Her hand is resting on her open, shocked mouth, Sophia not knowing what to do with this information. Their song was on your story.
That⊠she has to do something with that.
Sophiaâs fingers tap away before she can even think, spewing whatever comes to mind.
Sophia is giggling like a schoolgirl at your responses.
She couldnât believe that just happened, but you were definitely planning on it. While in your Florida home, you're smirking as you read your DMs together. You wanted this girl, and you were known to be determined in getting what you want.
You text your manager quickly about your plans, and she easily gets them done for you.Â
The next few days, you're waiting for updates on where and when they're willing to make it happen, but you were open to waiting. Even if it took several months with how busy both of you are.
But after finding some time, about two months later, they solidified that Sophia would come to a show in August because she needed a break. It was also just perfect timing.
Sophia had been through the wringer the past couple of months. She knew 2026 would be a packed schedule, but it was taking a toll on her physical and mental well-being. With the many releases, Manonâs hiatus, and the fuck loads of hate on the group, she needed to step away even if it was just for a couple of appearances.
When she finds herself in the stadium where the house show is taking place, there are fewer bright lights, and she makes sure to keep a face mask, hat, and her glasses on so no one would know who she is. You had apparently gotten her a seat in the front with easy access from the barricades that clearly didnât do much since the arena was much smaller than ones for live events.Â
It seems like a really random yet fascinating lineup of matches, and you were going to go up against one of your good friends, Rhea Ripley. You're set to lose the match, but both of you know you're about to have a lot of fun with this.
Entering first, your gear is much simpler than usual. In a dark red body suit with high-waisted cutouts, mesh from the bottom of your bust and lower. Pairing it with some ripped fishnet leggings, black leather shorts, and lacey fabric wrapping down to one half of your waist and letting it flow.
What truly shocked Sophia was that you were bare-faced; in fact, you and Rhea both were, and it truly made her feel like you were actually human, like her in some way. The match was fun, you and Rhea honestly doing jokes on each other while putting each other through tables. It gave the audience a good glimpse of your guys' real personalities without shedding the kayfabe wall.
Once you're limping towards backstage, you pass Sophia, giving her a small wink that most people didnât care for. It is your guy's job to entertain the crowd in any way.
Her heart fluttered a bit, and she had enjoyed quite a few matches by then. Not even fifteen minutes later, staff came up to her, stating you had advised them to bring her backstage. Your first thought process⊠You wanted to meet her. But the second thought is that it was just much safer and more private backstage, so this would be for her own good.
They brought her to your locker room, which is luckily private since the entire roster isn't in the building. Knocking on the door once, Sophia hears, âCome in!â from the inside, and the staff opens the door.
It reveals a white bricked room with some snacks, a mini fridge, couches, a couple of cubbies on one wall, and a television. The room looked quite sad in Sophiaâs eyes, but if it was just to change, relax, and pass time for a couple of minutes to an hour, this would suffice.
You look to be freshly out of the shower, drying your hair with a towel but evidently in fresh clothes. A simple loose grey tank top that has largely cut arm holes, your white sports bra underneath, and black sweatpants.
The door shuts behind Sophia, but sheâs just starstruck at seeing you that she hasnât comprehended yet and comes back down to Earth.
âGod, you're hot.â
âWell, thank you.â
âŠDid she not say that in her own head?
The realization that she said it out loud brings her into reality, frantically apologizing to you. âIâm so sorry, I donât even know what came over me. Like im not usually like that-â
âSophia, itâs alright,â she relaxes a bit at your voice, but the thing you say next has her tensing up badly.Â
âI could say the same thing about you.â
Sophia, now frozen in front of the door, feels her cheeks burning up at the comment. It gets a chuckle out of you, raising your arms up like you got caught doing something bad.
âIâll reel it back in. Iâm sorry,â you lightly chuckle but try to get her comfortable.
âWould you like some snacks or drinks?â
Sophia nods, walking over to the couch and taking a seat. âThat would be nice, thanks.â
âWarning: this is a lot of âhealthyâ things.â
You add air quotes and make it funny enough that you make her giggle. Well⊠it wasnât that funny, but Sophia is having a âgiggle at anything your crush saysâ moment.Â
âWe have some Coke Zero, water, Gatorade Zero, protein bars, veggie chipsâŠâ The more you point and name everything, the more awkward your face gets. âYeah⊠healthy boring stuff for sure.â
âItâs fine; we have a need for protein in our regimens too, you know?â
âWell, please help yourself then,â you sway your arm toward everything, and Sophia obliges. âI really appreciate you coming by, the way.â
Sophia couldn't flat out say how that made her feel, because then it would be like she truly wronged Leon, but she knew what it was. Sheâd easily passed liking you now.
âWell, I appreciate you inviting me.â
âDonât even mention it. If anything, I think you being in the audience really gave me a boost to do well in my matchâyou know, despite the loss,â you end the sentence in an unsure flux that has Sophia giggling again.
You're just as smitten as her; hearing it just makes you want to keep going.Â
âCan I ask you something?â
âShoot,â she responds, swiftly tossing a chip in her mouth. âWhy did you come to Backlash to see me?â
Sophia pauses mid-chip feed, eyes widening at the âsuddenâ question. You were clearly the type of person that gets to the point quickly. You notice the look on her face, and try to calm her down, âYou donât have to say why, I was just interested in knowing.â
Maybe from all the interviews Soohia has done so far, sheâs learned to just be honest and answer. âI donât think you realize the kind of star power you have. I went into Mania wanting to watch AJ but came out being a big fan.â
The sentence has you beaming, and you were going to ask if she wanted to meet other wrestlers when a notification rang in her phone. Giving you an apologetic look, Sophia checks what it is, brows then furrow as she responds.
âEverything okay?â
âYeah, just uhm⊠boy problems is all.â
Your brows raise up, lips puckered in intrigue, âYou have a boyfriend?â
âYeah,â thereâs this nervous giggle after, and Sophia almost felt unsure of wanting to answer. Because frankly, with the fighting theyâve been doing the past month, it doesnât feel like theyâre proper partners.
âWell, it's fuck men for tonight! Might as well have fun. Let me introduce you to some others too?â Sophia happily accepts, and that night truly began your blossoming friendship.
She met so many people and began to feel comfortable. You made that quite easy for her, though, never leaving her alone backstage, touring her around, giving her little fun facts about wrestling. You had become her comfort person within the hour of personally getting to know each other.
When a month rolls by, you guys are practically on the phone 24/7. Whether it was just texting, a phone call, or FaceTime, you guys were updated about each other in terms of everything. Especially during the times she and Leon would fight, which was more often now than ever.
Both of you knew it was because of the friendship you guys had, but no one is saying it out loud.Â
Well⊠except Leon.
âI donât like you and her being friends!â
Sophia was backstage at a televised RAW in Los Angeles, where sheâs holding her phone up to her face, while arguing with him in your locker room.
âYou canât control who Iâm friends with, Leon.â
âOf course not, but you guys sure as hell act like you're more than friends!â
She sighs, raking her freshly manicured nails through her hair and looking tired. Luckily, you had a segment and a match tonight, so Sophia was left alone for a good amount of time.
âIâm just tired of feeling like a placeholder right now, Sophia,â Leon says truthfully, sounding tired.Â
The silence was deafening, and it lasted for a couple of minutes until Leon finally asked, âBe honest with meâdo you like her?â
Sophia felt her heart sink to her stomach. As easy as it is to answer the question, she knew the guilt would swallow her whole. But knowing that he doesnât deserve the dishonesty, Sophia nods, tears brimming in her eyes.
âI do.â
Leon didnât have to hear anymore. Heâs a good man after all, and loves Sophia. That meant if thatâs where she was happy, he would have to accept that. âOkay⊠I understand.â
Thereâs more silence that lingers a bit until Leon finally voices, âI just hope sheâll make you happy, Phia.â
Then the call ends, and Sophia is left in this brutal silence, a tear falling down her cheek. Wiping each drop away, she takes a deep breath, looking up at the ceiling.
After your match, you jog straight to your locker room to find Sophia whipping her head down. Her eyes are red and glossy while she lets out a huff.
Your excitement turns into concern, and you lock the door behind you. âHey, hey,â you whisper, coming towards her, then taking a seat and bringing her into a hug.
âWhatâs wrong?â You ask her softly, and Sophia relaxes into your arms, sniffling a little. âWe, uhm, broke up.â
You pull away, leaving your arms on both her shoulders, emotions all over the place. You were just excited, then just worried, and now angry. âDid he pull some shit, Sophia? Because I swear to god-â
âIt was my fault,â she cut you off, shutting you up fast.Â
With everything happening and all her feelings, she was better off letting this out now than letting it build up within.
âIâve been so in love with you that it haunts me, and it's been changing me as a person, Y/n. Leon didnât deserve that.â
You suck in a breath, scared that any interruption would stop this moment. Sophia feels your conditioned hands caressing her jawline, having her look straight into your e/c eyes.
âIâve loved you the moment you FaceTimed me for the first time. When you were in your pajamas all cozy in bed. How you yapped until you fell asleep.â
That makes her giggle, tears still streaming down her face. Your thumb whips away a tear, and you give her a little forehead kiss. âWe can take it slow, go at your pace until you feel comfortable.â
Sophia smiles a little bit and nods, âIâd really like that.â
