Wunderman Thompson Picks Annette Male as APAC CEO
Wunderman Thompson has named Anette Male as the Chief Executive
Officer for APAC. As you know, Wunderman Thompson was formed after WPP decided
to merge Wunderman and J W Thompson in November of last year. They have already
named their global CEO who is Mel Edwards. Now they have named their Chief
Executive Officer for APAC. Annette will report to Mel Edwards and she will be
based in Singapore.
Details on Annette Male’s new Role in Wunderman Thompson
Annette Male will start her new role at Wunderman Thompson on the 1st of March 2019. She will be responsible for all the Asia Pacific markets. The Asia Pacific region has over 4,300 employees and she will be in charge of leading them. The Current APAC CEO at Wunderman Caspar Schlickum remains on board during the transition process. He has decided to pursue another opportunity in the industry in the same APAC region. John Gutteridge, the current CEO of J Walter Thompson’s APAC has also gotten a new role. He will be the CEO Wunderman Thompson Australia/NZ where he will report to the CEO of WPP AUNZ. Gutteridge will also be part of the executive committee at WPP in AUNZ where he will be expected to drive innovation across the group.
Prior to her new role at Wunderman Thompson, Annette Male worked as the APAC CEO at Digitas. At Digitas, she was responsible for China, India, Australia, Hong Kong, Singapore and Malaysia. Before she took on the CEO role at Digitas, she joined the Digitas team as a managing director. According to Digitas, she was able to drive double-digit growth every year in the last four years. Annette Male started her career at Mars, she has also worked at Kitcatt Nohr, CHI & Partners and TBWA\GGT.
Wunderman Thompson speaks on the Appointment
Speaking about Annette Male’s appointment Mel Edwards, the global chief executive officer of Wunderman Thompson said that APAC is a key growth market for the agency. She expressed her delight that Annette Male will be leading their team in APAC. She expressed her belief that Male will lead the team to deliver the very best in class work for their clients. According to Edwards, Male’s passion and understanding of the integration of creativity, data, and technology made her the right choice for the role. She ended the statement by saying that she is excited to see what the future will hold for APAC.
