yay i finally made it out to a hockey game here -- it’s WSHL, and almost all their games have been on weekends when i can’t go. i was glad i could go today even though it was the last home game they’d have for this season or whatever. and our home team totally lost XD

Hey guys! I know that the Stanley Cup Playoffs are coming up, but for those whose teams are out or would like to watch hockey that’s not NHL, I’ve got something good for you!
This week starting Wednesday and ending on Easter Sunday the Western States Hockey League will be having their Thorne Cup Playoffs. It’s a small but amazing Junior A league for boys ages 16-21 and they’ve got some amazing teams! Listed below are the teams that made it to playoffs and their websites (if they have one), but most if not all of them have facebook, instagram, and/or twitter pages that you all should check out.
Here’s the teams:
Colorado Jr. Eagles
Valencia Flyers
Long Beach Bombers
Wichita Jr. Thunder
Idaho Jr. Steelheads
Ogden Mustangs
You can watch their games at this site for $10 a game, but it’s well worth it! The commentator Jon McBride is amazing at his job and very hilarious as well. If you’re unable to watch, simply checking out and rooting for these teams and giving them a follow or like on their social media pages would really help them out, as it’s such a small, yet growing league! You can also check out the stats of each team and all the other teams in the league at their league stats site. Seriously, the boys on this league are very sweet and are from all around the world! For most of them this is their first time in a big league and support is much appreciated!

Some info about the Thorne Cup Finals and the WSHL
Look, no one really cares about these guys, but I love them with my whole heart. The WSHL (Western States Hockey League) is a Junior A hockey league with 25 (soon to be 26) teams that has recently expanded a little further eastward and up into Canada. The Thorne Cup Finals is a round robin tournament that lasts five days, three games per day, with the championship game being held on the final day. The games begin tomorrow (April 9th) and the final will be on Saturday (April 13th).
The teams participating are as follows:
El Paso Rhinos (last year’s Thorne Cup champs)
Bellingham Blazers
Edson Aeros
Long Beach Bombers
Ogden Mustangs (my local boys!)
Oklahoma City Blazers
Also here’s a website with the team stats as well as live scoreboards for the games. There is a site where you can watch the games, but it costs $10 for a four hour session :/. There are games at 11 a.m., 3 p.m., and 7:30 p.m. mountain time. If anyone has questions or wants to chat about this whole thing, my ask box and inbox are always open. :)
