So, for those who haven't been following this blog for a good long while: A Shadow Of Herself is an AU where Quiet is accepted by Edge in place of Adamant rather than being killed.
It's not a fun time for her, so that does mean some violence and abuse content is to be had. Just as a warning.
LINK TO THE FIRST CHAPTER BE HERE
I started this AU several years back and always intended to only publish it once it was finished but various things have put it on the back-burner, namely trying to keep in pace with how Edge and his family come across in canon.
And also because my confidence in my prose isn't so great. However, I still want to put some of this content out there regardless because I know people have been waiting on this AU for a while.
There are two other chapters available on the Patreon. I am in the process of sprucing up this AU and readjusting it as it's been a few years since I started it so some things may not line up with the comic here and there. I do intend to get these other chapters out asap too. c:
Hope y'all enjoy this. I adore Quiet as a character and it's fun developing her when she's.... well, not dead. oof - RJ

As a writer (ha! Who are you kidding?! Wannabe at best, get over yourself! *Sips brandy and laughs mockingly*) in a changing world with many identities, would it be considered wise to try and be as inclusive in my descriptions of individuals or as generic as possible?
Now, please, don't misunderstand me, the options are not "to be inclusive or not". I have no problems with anyone or what they identify as but I wouldn't like to do anyone a disservice or offend by attempting to understand and put that into words, thus seriously misrepresenting a given group. That kind of thing can be as alienating and damaging as being non inclusive!
In general, you will see that I enjoy being highly descriptive and, at times, I can put great detail into someones physical attributes etc etc especially if I have a particular individual in mind as inspiration. I recognise, though, that this can serve to indirectly promote the wrong message, i.e. some could easily be accused of only referencing a single race, gender, body type etc etc. It's a minefield as I'm sure you can understand.
So!
The question I put to the community is this;
Would my readers want
As many identities detailed as possible
Basic generic description so to imagine individuals as the reader sees fit
while im unable to draw currently (cozy in bed) i feed you:
i continue my headcanon of the bizarro ninja having lesser developed fine motor skills because theyre made to fight and do gross motor skill things.
volt [bizarro jay] continually struggles to do a lot of things, things he feels he should be able to do. he gets frustrated constantly.
jay and volt like to paint each others nails. volt's ends up looking very tidy. jay's always ends up looking messy. volt's shaky hands tend to paint almost Jay's entire fingertip while trying to paint the nail.
volt gets embarrassed about this. jay wouldnt have it any other way. watching volt focus so hard to try keep his hands steady, and try and properly hold the brush, the way his eyebrows crinkle (just like jay does) and how he bites his lip (just like jay does) and how he tunes everything else out as he focuses as hard as he can (just like jay does).
even if people comment about how messy jay's nails look. he wouldnt have it any other way. his messy nails are little reminders of how hard volt tries. and how much volt loves him. how much volt trusts him to be able to do something imperfect - despite his embarrassment - and to have that imperfection show every day. he loves it. it's perfect to him.
The Ticklish Adventures Of Isabel
by tickle-her-senseless, 20/07/2019
Isabel met a confident ler,
Isabel, Isabel, didn’t care;
The ler was big, the ler was strong,
The ler’s ten fingers were nimble and long.
The ler said “Isabel, finally we meet,”
“I’ll grab you and wreck those ticklish feet!”
Isabel, Isabel, didn’t worry.
Isabel didn’t scream or scurry.
She tied the shocked ler to the posts of her bed,
Then Isabel tickled the ler’s feet instead.
//////////
Once on a night as black as pitch,
Isabel met with a ruthless switch.
The switch had feathers, the switch had tools,
The switch didn’t care about safewords or rules.
The switch purred “Isabel, aren’t you a tease?”
“I’ll tickle that tummy as long as I please!”
Isabel, Isabel, didn’t worry.
Isabel didn’t scream or scurry.
She whipped out a brush, pinned the switch to a table,
And twirled it for hours in the switch’s deep navel.
//////////
Isabel’s lee mood one night wouldn’t quit,
She longed to be tickled and forced to submit.
She played with her own navel under the sheet,
She twirled her own brush on her tummy and feet.
Alas: zero laughs, not one giggle or snerk.
Tickling herself - well, it just wouldn’t work.
Isabel, Isabel, didn’t cry.
She texted the ler and the switch to stop by.
They wrecked her soft belly and tortured her feet,
And her howls could be heard from the end of the street.
Based on “The Adventures Of Isabel” by Ogden Nash
Since gifs are being a nightmare just now, I did something different for my “1000 followers” celebratory post and had a go at writing and recording an ACTUAL POEM.
This goes out to @ticklishenglishmuffin, @tickle-me-cutiepie, @twordish, @lady-featherquill, @obviousleeticklish, @maddytheteasyswitch95 (once she’s back from vacation) and @b-dawwn (once she’s back from her break) - all of these awesome women prove that you can crave to be tickled into a starry-eyed daze while still being a phenomenal force to be reckoned with, much like Isabel herself.
The original poem was one of my favourites as a very young kid. Although the first two “interludes” on the recording are obviously of guys being tickled, I tried very hard to keep the ler and switch characters gender neutral so you can read it any way you want. True to form I couldn’t resist tickling the living daylights out of our heroine at the very end - but it happens on her own terms when she wants it, so she still wins despite being reduced to helpless, desperate squeals!
I also remember the original book having two illustrations per verse, one with some kind of monster towering over a nonchalant Isabel, the other with her just calmly handling the situation! Any artists fancy taking it on?!
