...Oh, that's a problem... <:{
Scrolling while I'm reading / editing in OpenOffice is turning out to be REALLY bad for the ADHD. Because the scrolling doesn't go line-by-line. It skips like 12 lines down when I reach the end of the screen, and then I have to scan to find where I left off. Every single time.
This might be okay for editing, but it is HORRID for trying to get immersed, get the new-writing flow state going, and (with my flimsy ADHD focus) to stay focused on The Writing and How It's Flowing, and not Scanning the Screen to Find Where I Left Off every three paragraphs... <:P
(I'm not scrolling with a mouse; I'm using the keypad to navigate. Just tapping the down arrow key to scroll. If I can't figure out how to change it, this might legitimately be a dealbreaker for me...)
Preemptively, I refuse to use Google Docs (AI scrapes the writing you put up there) and I don't want to pay a subscription fee (so M365 is out).
Does anyone know: A.) How to make LibreOffice writer scroll one line at a time instead of a dozen? I tried researching on reddit and LibreOffice Help alike, and I don't think anyone else has found a solution... None I've seen, at least.
Or B.) a simple free writing program for Linux (Mint 23-something) that can read large .rtf's? We're talking, this story I'm trying to read from is about 250 pages long, ~150k words, and has two decades of tracked changes on it, though I'd already resigned myself to potentially losing the tracked changes. Apparently Ellipsus doesn't handle 20k+ words well, and, uhh. Half my story files are over 20k. Being able to set custom templates would be ideal, but anything that lets me read it as White Text on a Black Background would work.
(Being able to open pre-existing .rtf's is a must. I have over 20 years of writing I'm working on!)
