a blind date was the last thing that patty uris wanted to go on. not because she wasn't ready to start going on dates ( it had been about 8 months since stan’s passing, she’d had plenty of time to grieve ), she believed that she had been sad long enough. she deserved the opportunity to try again if it worked out it worked out, but if it didn’t she wasn’t going to push anything. truthfully, she was just scared shitless.
she hadn’t been with anyone except stan-----------------ever. she didn’t know if other men even found her appealing, or if they didn’t, she had no idea how to be appealing to them. she had spent all her life so far with one person. she knew what he liked, what he didn’t like, she knew how to make him laugh, and she knew what made him cry. most of all, patty was scared shitless that she would mess things up.
so, patty went out shopping and bought a new little black dress because she knew she wouldn’t be able to wear the one she use to wear on date nights with stan. she bought herself a new pair of high heels and a maroon lipstick. for the first time in a while, she felt very pretty.
still, she was a bundle of nerves so she decided to arrive to the restaurant early. she was going to play it so that she had all of her cards on the table first, and that she had all the control in this situation. she got there, immediately holding a glass of wine. she had to have a drink to give her some courage to make it through the evening. she scanned the place, wondering just when her date might show up and what they might look like.
just then, she feels a tap on her shoulder and hears someone asking her if her name was patty. it had to be her date. but it scared her so bad that she nearly lets out a scream ! in that very same moment, she furrows her brow as she meets the man. he looks.....familiar. she almost forgets that she was nearly scared out of her skin. ‘ yes, i’m patty uris, ’ she said, so focused on his face that she could hardly even conjure up a smile. she snaps out of it for a moment, looks into his eyes and smile. ‘ alec ? i figured as much. you’ll have to forgive me, i know we’ve never met but there’s something familiar about you. ’ it’s eerie yet comforting. she’s focused hard again as she speaks ‘ it’s very nice to meet you. ’
