Notes: I really loved this fic because it reminded me of fairytales, but not the Disney ones. The way it’s written, with a vocabulary that reminded me of the classics, and the darkness and violence in it is so much like the Grimm Brothers fairytales. It’s one of those fics that you can’t remember reading anything like it before. It’s also the first fic that we’ve found out thanks to the underappreciatedsterek blog so, please, check them out! - C

Derek found himself in a sea of white, the great tents stretched out end to end the length of the grand courtyard, and so many strands of lights he'd never seen in his life. Banners adorned with the royal silver "S" flapped in the crisp air. He was fairly certain he'd just caught sight of Prince Stiles, and avoided look up.

"Who are you?" Stiles said softly, and Derek's face turned back up to him, finding him instantly.

A man from the forest was almost certainly a wolf, but this man looked like a mere man. A strong, muscular man with a powerful jaw under his short-cropped beard, but still, no savage claws, no wild fangs dripping blood, Stiles thought. He observed intently from the balcony as the trees were unloaded, and watched with a pang as the tall man made to climb aboard the wagon after the last tree was placed.
