Alright ya’ll, you know what to do.
Here’s the link to the list of senator’s contact information.
Here’s a list of which ones are Republicans.
And here’s the letter I wrote for you to copy, paste, and send to them. Make changes as you will:
Senator,
I am writing following the presentation of evidence in the second impeachment trial of Donald J. Trump to urge you-- for the good of the American people and the future of the Republican party-- to convict and prevent him from ever holding federal office again.
Being that the senate determined through a bipartisan vote that the impeachment trial is constitutional and valid, your vote should be based solely on the evidence presented, and that evidence is damning.
The chronological outlining of events with quotes, video, images, tweets, and more, proves clearly that not only did Donald Trump through his words and actions spend months fanning the very flames which led to the insurrection at the Capitol on January 6, 2021 without reprisal or condemnation, but that given the opportunity he will continue to do so. Refusing to hold him accountable for his actions gives him that opportunity.
Despite the results of his inflammatory behavior prior to and on January 6th, even as the Capitol was under siege and multiple members of congress pleaded with him to condemn the actions of the domestic terrorists, he took to his Twitter account not to disparage but to console them saying: “We had an election that was stolen from us… and everyone knows it, especially the other side… We love you. You’re very special.”
Police officers, upholding the law and doing their duty to protect you and your colleagues, lost their lives that day at the hands of the mob. Several others were injured or maimed, losing eyes and fingers in the assault as they were beaten, bludgeoned, pushed, trampled, caught between doors, and more.
If the "party of law and order” does not unequivocally condemn the actions of Donald Trump which led to this battery and murder of law enforcement by issuing justice accordingly, then they can never again refer to themselves as such. Indeed, refusal to do so lends itself to suspicion of complicity, Senator.
On the evening of January 6th, Trump again used his Twitter to restate his “love” for these rioters and encouraged them to “Remember this day forever!” This, after his several earlier remarks to “fight like hell” and “take back the country” as “great patriots” despite the proven and legally certified election results. And even as recently as last week, Donald Trump was urging his lawyers to perpetuate his big lie (that he won the election) on the senate floor and believes he did nothing wrong.
If you do not condemn his behavior and convict, ensuring he will never hold federal office again, then you and the entire Republican Party will forever be irreversibly bound to the whims of an insurrectionist. America is watching, Senator, and waiting for you to do what is right to ensure the events of January 6th never occur again.
If you do not convict, then you have given a free pass to every future president to act without rule or consequence in the final hours of their term, a dangerous precedent indeed.
To quote a very wise woman, “The people who are really on trial are the 50 Republican senators judging Trump’s guilt… Republican Senators willing to excuse Trump for his incitement of an insurrection that attacked our peaceful transfer of power are tying the Republican party to the former president… If Republican senators permit Trump to get away with the big lie, it must, logically, take over the Republican Party.”
Thank you for your time.
Convict.
Sincerely, A Concerned American
