oh my goodness in all my talk about books i have not mentioned the hitchhiker's guide to the galaxy at ALL!! the whole series is REALLY important to me. i love marvin, and arthur, and ford, and zaphod, and trillian, and everyone, and i have a decent arsenal of quotes i can fire off from it still. ive read all the books so many times probably more than 5 each except for the last, i am a little rusty since my copys has been borrowed for like a year and i really want to read it again but... omg. i still remember a lot.
its influenced my writing a LOT too. one easily visible thing is adding 'ish' to adjectives. also the frickin metaphors. i love. idk it also has a lot of the Weird Humor stuff that i can get with, without being the inane quirky type of comedy that is gross

5. a fictional character influential in your understanding of your sexualityi have no idea TBH. like im trying to think of a decent response but am totally drawing a blank. i was completely bored by any hint of romance for a long time and even now if it is too overt i just get totally tired of it. which i guess could totally correlate with my being ace omg. i related most to characters who were baffled by romance +sex or like. just completley nonsexual in a way.i hate this example but- bbc sherlock. he was one of the first characters that i headcanoned as asexual and like idk i guess i related to that
10. speech/physical mannerisms you learned from fictiondid you mean: all of my mannerisms. or at least, a lot of them. i’ll find myself using a lot of vocabulary from books or movies i’ve recently watched/read, as well as imitating guestures of characters i see on tv. for example i’ve been rereading the dresden files and when i was talking to somebody about magic i was throwing in a bunch of vocab from there
12. miscellaneous stuff about you that is different because of a story you heard onceahh if i had a long time to think about this i could come up with a list of things, because a lot of stuff like this is subtle and hard to identify at first unless you consciously think about it?? and almost every bit of media i consume affects me in some way, even if i don’t realize it at first. a few things i can think of off the top of my head: 1) this started when i was younger but it’s continued… when i write in high fantasy i tend to automatically kind of parody and stretch the limits of the genre, because i read so much stuff that did that. 2) there was a bruce coville short horror story i read when i was little that has stuck with me probably more than any other short story and occasionally i still check under my bed because of that frickin story. 3) ive only read hamlet recently but its made me look critically on my own extreme hesitancy, 4) when i was little there was a series of 4 books each based on the 4 elements which was one of the building blocks for like, how i viewed magic and nature and it was really cool 5) a lot of neil gaimans stories really get to me, i dont know if they necessarily change me though, more like they draw to light what was already inside. 6) his stuff really did help me to form and articulate some of my thoughts about Writing and Reading which was really cool though 7) i could go on for a while oh my god but this is already long enough. did i even answer the question?? close enough i guess.
