phoenix and miles quietly bickered with each other, as their gaze remained on you, sitting alone on the couch of your shared living room. the two of them had been observing you for a little bit now, leaning against the doorframe, while hoping you wouldn't notice them.
“they're never that quiet. not even when they're tired.” miles brings up, pointing out what phoenix seemed to have realized too by now. “but they're not crying, so i suppose that's a good sign.”
“but they haven't said anything to us either, so isn't that a bad sign?” phoenix throws in, which gets a sigh out of miles.
the two of them continued to quietly bicker with each other, torn about what to do next. one wanted to address the topic head on, the other wanted to give you space. but ultimately, they couldn't agree on what to do, their bickering simply continuing until…
“i can hear you two whispering, you know?”
their heads whipped around in an instance, both miles and phoenix awkwardly looking at you, as you caught them talking about you. how much did you hear, they wondered, but neither of them wanted to be the one to ask.
“are you alright…?”
phoenix was the first one to say something, taking a step towards you and fully entering the living room, as miles remained by the door for now.
“i'm fine.” you brushed it off with a light smile. but that wouldn't fool your lawyer boyfriends.
“you've been unusually quiet all day.” miles mentions, stepping into the room as well and making his way towards you, stopping right in front of the couch. “you always tell us about your day when you get home. or you ask about ours. but today…”
“we just want to help you cheer up again, whatever it is!” phoenix interrupts miles, sitting down next to you now, placing a hand on your shoulder. “you don't need to tell us anything, if you don't want to. as long as you smile again by the end of the day, we're happy.”
there was a moment of silence, in which neither of you three said a thing. instead, you looked up at miles, patting next to you on the couch. he understood immediately, sitting down on the opposite side of you that phoenix was sitting.
“i just want to be with you two for a while… is that alright?” you quietly asked, grabbing both of their hands at once. phoenix immediately inched closer to you, while miles caressed your cheek with his free hand.
“of course, love. whatever you ask for.” he smiled softly, pressing a kiss onto your forehead, before both of them wrapped their arms around you and held you close, hoping that it would be enough for now…
even though you're dating both phoenix and miles, they do love to bicker from time to time, like they did when they were still fighting over your love!
it's always fun to watch, knowing that despite their little arguments (that resemble the arguments they have in court), the two of them care deeply about each other and never mean any harm!
