Also I cribbed the original set-up from @iriscasefiles when I got so tired of waiting for season 3 I wrote my own. I'm Black, so I'm allowed to do that. The stories diverged QUICKLY, but I do wanna encourage y'all to please listen to this god-sent podcast. It's up there with Nightvale as a titan of the genre and, to be honest, I miss entire seasons of Nightvale, but I wouldn't miss an episode of Starship Iris if the sun was hurtling toward Earth and I was left suffocating in space.

Literally, the original 5-man-band of space-faring brewers. I just had to get ethnic wit it. I owe a lot to The Strange Case of Starship Iris. Not my plot, I did steer it in a completely different direction, but like in a big way my life. It really saved me in dark times, and I thank the entire crew for the effort and love they imbue into it.

Gotta lay some flowers at that altar.

You should still read my book, though, can't stress enough that it's the best thing ever written. It's not cocky if it's true

The premise follows the catastrophic 2100 merging of America with the United Nations. Immediately following this, every person who doesn't own land is evicted from Earth. In 2175, those that survive are homeless, hungry, and have nothing to lose in their fight to return.

Captain Jean Sable is a xenogene fugitive from the United Colonies of Terrex. Part ram, part saber-toothed cat, part bat, and part human runaway - every inch of Jean is patented, and now stolen. Aboard the Cosmocraft Kylix Jean has managed to cobble together a family of fellow Colony cast-outs. It's not exactly smooth-sailing, the Kylix crew dealing with a ship way past its heyday, depleting resources, and an unpredictable customer-base for their Kylix Kolsch, but it's bearable. Until Jean's on-again off-again girlfriend, who just so happens to be the daughter of the Secretary of Space moves aboard. It is complete at 158,000 words. And they say people wouldn't work if there was no profit incentive. I've made basically nothing writing this and have only gained further isolation from my friends, a Vitamin D deficiency, and maybe a complex about the merits of starving artistry.
