leafpool's relationship with crowfeather is written in such an insufferable way that i understand why a lot of people, especially young people, found themselves disliking her as a character back in late Po3/early OotS
It's not Leafpool's fault... but they write her begging Crowfeather to understand her love IN FRONT OF HIS WIFE, Nightcloud, once the secret is out. Her love of Crowfeather comes out of nowhere and they have no chemistry. She's so hopelessly in love with him while giving birth to her kits that she tries to name Hollykit "Crowkit" until Squilf says "Not a good look chief. Should stay in the drafts tbh" and then names Jaypaw "Jayfeather" anyway.
And I can't fault young readers for not stepping back from being annoyed at this, and asking, "Why does this story not treat Crowfeather as harshly as Leafpool? Why is Leafpool being written as the one obsessed with Crowfeather in spite of her being the one who broke it off with him? Why is Nightcloud being blamed for Breezepelt's problems while Crowfeather has no reckoning with how every relationship he has implodes?"
i hate leafcrow man. awful ship. Crowfeather is an awful character too while I'm at it he could be so much better. Imo HE should be the one who's irrational and passionate, not goddamn Leafpool.
