“Stop moving around so goddamn much, you’re gonna mess me up.”

Toji tried to lay still as you straddled over him and prepped his skin to do his makeup. You were currently tweezing his eyebrows and he was acting like a big baby about it. 

“I don’t really care if I’m ugly you know.”

“I wouldn’t be with an ugly man. Now hush, I have a razor now,” you said and started to shape his eyebrows carefully. He tried to relax into the bed but you could still feel the tension in his body. His eyelids shook and you couldn’t help but to smirk at him. 

“You know, for the type of job you have, you’d think you could handle a very guarded blade up close.” 

He tightened his hands against your waist. “Do you think anyone had the chance to put a blade to my face and still walk after?”

You had to give him that. After bickering a while longer you finished his brows and showed him a mirror. 

“They look the same.”

“What? No, they’re totally different. It’s less bushy and it has a prettier shape to it now. I won’t even put anything on them.”

“What’s next?”

“Unfortunately I don’t have any foundation that would match you, but I do want to do an eye look and lashes,” you beamed. 

While you focused on doing his makeup you asked him a question that was heavy on you mind. 

“Toji… would you still love me if I was a worm?” 

“What?”

“Me. As a worm. Would you still love me?”

“There’s no way you’re asking me that”

“Well I am, so answer.” 

“What the fuck am I supposed to do with a worm?” 

“I don’t know that’s for you to figure out.”

He gave a genuine moment to think about it. 

“How big would you be?”

“How big would be convenient for you?”

“Well if you’re too small I’ll fucking crush you and you wouldn’t like that. But if your big enough I guess I could wrap you around my arm or waist and take you around places,” he said gruffly. 

“Really? You mean it?” 

No longer a human as in “has physically transformed and maybe we should do something about that”: It’d be odd if I needed to, but yes. It’d be useful for us to be on the same page about the sudden change in reality and denial is likely to be dangerous.

and i think the answer is pretty simple: yes or no, it only gets complicated when the follow up question of “what would you do with me?” is asked

so i am proposing a different question. y’all know about those pears that grow inside a bottle and then the bottle’s filled with alcohol of some kind??

what if i was the pear and you were the bottle? would you smash yourself to let me be free, or would you keep me contained and protected?

i tested this question out on my group of friends and most of my friends said they would keep us both safe and only one was like “i’d smash my glass so you could be free”

so i switched the question to “what if i was just the pear and you weren’t the bottle anymore?”

and most of my friends were like “okay yeah i’d smash the bottle” but then the one that had the different answer last time said “no i wouldn’t smash the bottle then” and i was like “why” of course.

“well if i smashed the bottle you would start to rot because the alcohols keeping you essential immortal. so i would carry you around for the rest of our lives and smash it when i’m dying so we could go out together.”

and so i said “isn’t that true for both of them though?”

AND SHE SAID— AND IDK IF ITS JUST ME BUT IT WAS THE MOST HEARTWARMING THING SHE COULD SAY—

“well yeah, but the first question is more about would i rather you be free or trapped and if it came down to it i would rather at least one of us be free, instead of both of us stuck on a shelf for however long. if it came down to it i think you would want to free instead of immortal and i would be okay with being the one to break so you could be free and living”

and it kinda left me speechless ‘cause i hadn’t thought about it like that and it was just really profound
