Another amazing attraction from EPCOT’s past was World of Motion. Like Horizons, this was another one that I could wish you could stay on as long as you wanted to til you were ready to hop off. For me, that would be around 20-38 times. I loved all the animatronic characters and the educational aspect of the ride. Every class should be this entertaining! These retro attractions were the most exciting to work on not only cuz they had so many great visuals to incorporate, but I also ‘rode’ on each one a hundred times via YouTube during the process. Ah the memories! Can Disney create a new park filled with retired attractions?? Old folks like me would lose their minds over it! I’d go from Horizons, to Bear Country Jamboree, to World of Motion, to America Sings, to the Skyway, back to Horizons, onto the Maelstrom, and then to those UFOs that were gone by the time I first visited Disneyland. 𝐃𝐢𝐬𝐧𝐞𝐲 𝐋𝐞𝐠𝐞𝐧𝐝 𝐅𝐞𝐚𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐞: Walt with legendary animator and director Ward Kimball. Although Ward never directly "Imagineered" for Disneyland, his "Man in Space" series of episodes for television (pictured) coincided with and informed the development of Tomorrowland the place. Ward later served as an Imagineer on Epcot's World of Motion. He was inducted as a Disney Legend in 1989. With Epcot currently changing from its 1980s roots, I felt like going down and sketching some of the pavilions that still existed in some form (Wonders of Life, Universe of Energy) and others that were completely gone using old photos (World of Motion, Horizons). It was nice and calming, sitting outside Wonders of Life-which had long lost its sign and DNA spiral-and reminiscing about being inside that building during its heyday. Universe of Energy was behind walls, getting ready for its Guardians of the Galaxy remake. While I usually sketch cartoons and colorful characters, I really enjoyed delving into basic illustration techniques and putting an emphasis on greenery and landscape.
