Kilmarnock Estate - World Class #3 π₯π·π₯π·π₯π·π₯π·π₯π·π₯π·π₯π·π₯π·π₯π·π₯ Top 100 Australia - Break the Mould: To break the mould for this challenge I wanted to challenge the typical conventions of when whisky is normally consumed with dinner. I challenged myself no not create a cocktail inspired by wine, but create a liquid that is hard to tell difference from it. I restricted the use of anything pre-manufactued like wine makers tannins or liqueurs and was only allowed to use raw materials and of course whisky. Johnnie Walker Espresso roast provided that subtle hint of oak, cacao and coffee, the rest of the flavours were built using over 20 different ingredients. I aimed to replicate the young and vibrant Beaujolais style. In 1820 John Walker opened his grocery, wine and spirits shop, selling the finest products from around the world to the small town of Kilmarnock. Long before the whisky brand was founded in 1865, the people of Kilmarnock relied on John to bring them exotic wines from around Europe. Kilmarnock Estate is the acknowledgement of a forgotten heritage, breaking the mould of traditional whisky drinks. A blended, whisky product, perceived as a medium bodied, vibrant red wine. Nose: Upfront is cooked strawberry and baking spices, giving way to earthy beets, and subtle smoke of Lapsang Souchong Palate: Starting boldly with big jammy blackcurrant, notes of plum skin grip the palate developing to woody, herbal tones. Finish: Brightening on the back palate, violets and lemon zest mingle with soft tannins and juniper ABV: 15.5% - 750ml Available now at Boilermaker House!
