Gym Dates with Randy Jr Jackson
Saturday mornings were supposed to be for sleeping in.

You pulled the blanket over your head.
"I'm asleep."
"No, you're not."
"...Yes, I am."
Randy laughed before gently pulling the blanket down just enough to reveal your sleepy face.
"Come on."
You cracked one eye open, squinting to adjust to the morning soon.ย
"What time is it?"
"Six thirty."
You immediately closed your eye again.
"Absolutely not."
"You promised you'd come to the gym with me today."
"I promised that yesterday."
"And?"
"I've changed my mind. "
He laughed so hard he had to lean against the bed.
"You can't just change your mind like that overnight."
"I literally can."
"Nope."
"Get dressed."
You sighed.
"...Five more minutes."
"Not happening."
"Ten?"
He raised an eyebrow.
โNo, why would the time be going up?โ
"Worth a shot."

Twenty minutes later
You climbed into the passenger seat with a water bottle, the most exhausted look imaginable.
Randy looked over at you.
"You alive?"
"Barely."
He laughed before reaching over and squeezing your thigh.
"I'll buy breakfast after."
"Now you're speaking my language."
Music filled the car as the two of you drove.
Every now and then, he'd look over and smile.
"What?"
"Nothing."
"No, what?"
"I just like that you still came."

"I complain."
"A lot."
"...A LOT."
"But I always show up."
"You do."
He leaned over at a red light and kissed your forehead.
"And I appreciate it."

The gym wasn't too crowded yet.
Randy immediately walked over to the stretching mats.
"...Can't we just skip this part?"
He looked horrified.
"Absolutely not."
"No."
"I stretched getting out of bed."
"I reached for my phone."
"No."
You sighed dramatically before sitting down.
"You take all the fun out of everything."
"You'll be crying tomorrow when your legs hurt."
"I won't."
"You will."

After stretching
The workout officially began.
Whenever you struggled with something
Randy was right there.
"You got it."
"One more."
"There you go."
"I literally cannot."
"You literally can."
"You don't understand."
"I do."
At one point you secretly skipped two reps.
You thought he hadn't noticed.
"Really?"
"What?"
"You skipped two."
"I did not."
He folded his arms.
"You think I wasn't counting?"
"You were cheating."

An hour later
The workout was finally over.
The two of you sat outside with protein shakes, that tasted like ass, not that you would actually know
and a shared order of fries.
You looked at him.
"I thought we just burned like..."
"700 calories."
"We did."
"And now we're eating fries."
"We earned them."
You nodded thoughtfully.
"You know..."
"That actually makes perfect sense."
"I know."
Randy looked over at you.
"You know..."
"Hm?"
"I think these might actually be my favorite dates."
You smiled.
"The gym?"
"No."
"You."
You looked away flustered.
"You make everything fun."

On the drive home...
You didn't even realize you'd fallen asleep.
Your head slowly rested against his shoulder as soft music played through the speakers.
Randy glanced over for just a second.
Smiled to himself.
Then reached over
Taking one of your hands into his.
"Best date I've ever been on."
Just realised this is like 80% dialogue but i love it
