    the words are scary, if only because as long as finn’s known alex she hasn’t apologized to him, or the other boys, for anything. finn purses his lips, brows knit together for a moment. he wants to reach out, take her hand, give her strength the way she gives it to cabeswater, to all the crazy magical shit around them, to their friends. when he doesn’t, the space between them feels oceans wide. “if it’s too much for you, you can tell me. we need all of us to make this work, to bring back glendower, but only if you’re willing.”

    he drops heavily onto her unmade dorm bed, making himself at home without being asked to do so. he has to lay the complete length of her bed so he can grab a lovingly dog-eared book from the side table, rucking up his no-longer ironic crop top in the process and not bothering to yank it back down. cash cracks the book open to random pages, reading the notes there, paying alex no attention. “so shower. i’ll wait.”
