During my recent trip to South Korea, I was happy to meet a group of Singaporeans over dinner to hear their respective experiences of living and working in Korea. Under Stand Avenue is South Korea's first and the world's largest shipping container shopping complex, located next to Seoul Forest. The complex is made up of 116 recycled containers, and serves as a creative public cultural space to support youth, migrant women, social entrepreneurs, artists and local vendors. Presented a token of appreciation to our gracious host and co-chair of the Special AMCA Plus ROK Meeting, South Korea's Minister for Culture, Sports and Tourism Park Yang-woo. It was a good opportunity for Singapore to 'catch up' with our counterparts from ASEAN and South Korea. I also spoke at the Ministerial Panel on the theme of Advancing ASEAN-ROK Partnership in Culture. Singapore looks forward to working alongside our friends from ASEAN and South Korea to enhance two-way cultural cooperation. Cultural exchanges are important for building shared understanding and enduring friendships among our peoples. Dongdaemun Design Plaza is an iconic urban development landmark on the site of an old stadium in Seoul. Designed by renowned late architect Zaha Hamid (also masterplanner of one-north and architect of d’Leedon in Singapore), it has no straight lines or walls. DPP comprises an Art Hall (launchpad for Korean Creative industry), Museum Hall (showcase of Korean design trends), Design Lab (incubators for Korean designers) and Academy Hall (hosts design lectures etc). During my visit to Abu Dhabi, I also had the opportunity to visit Abu Dhabi’s Midfield Terminal Complex (MTC) to understand the key considerations behind building and maintaining an airport terminal. When completed, MTC is expected to be able to handle more than 30 million passengers per year, significantly increasing the overall capacity of Abu Dhabi International Airport. Ensuring that roads are safe is a priority for governments around the world. I had the pleasure of speaking with Abu Dhabi’s Department of Transport Undersecretary Khalifa Bin Mohammad Al Mazrouei.
