die Bewerbung and a bike!!
As many of you saw, thursday I submitted my applications. It took a big weight off my back. The process, the classic process, is very intensive and rather expensive. I had to get an application photo done, which cost 50 Euros, then I had to buy these folders to present my documents, that cost about 25 Euros. Then I had to print out my cover letter, transcripts from college, and my German CV all on super nice paper at 16 Euros.
The next step in the process was to put them all into those folders without nicking any corners or bending anything. Once it was all completed I mailed them off to each separate job that I was applying for, another 25 Euros. In total I spent over 100 Euros applying to 5 jobs. Now that I have the photo it will cost less in the future, but it was still a spendy investment.
Once completed I felt exhausted. We went home and I took it easy the rest of the evening.
Yesterday, after all that was done, felt incredibly refreshing. I took a 5k run in the morning, which felt more exhausting than normal. As I got home I just laid on the floor for a bit, it was nice. Then Jens told me that his friend needed some help over in another city section, and as he was planning on biking to her home (it was sunny, no wind, and not even that cold outside), I was expected to take the streetcar to meet him.
So about 90 minutes later I find myself in his friends backyard being told they already finished moving everything. Some people might get annoyed about something like this, but honestly I was so happy. I had taken the streetcar independently, got to see parts of Frankfurt I did not know well. Also, I mentioned it was gorgeous outside right? Well, I got a surprise you see. I was there to pick up a bike.
It seems Jens had asked around his friends and found someone who had a bike they were not using. I got a bike (!!) yesterday. Now I can get around the city a lot easier. There are bike trails EVERYWHERE and almost everything is flat here. Seriously the best present ever. We spent the rest of the afternoon biking around that area of Frankfurt. Had an alcohol free beer here (which, by the way, alcohol free beers are a lot more common here and come in a much larger variety and are often well made). Then we biked the 8+ kilometers back home. Normally would not have been an issue but I was already exhausted from my run. Arriving home I had issues walking for a bit..my legs were a bit overworked you could say. :)
So this week was very productive and exciting. It is saturday morning still, and I have great plans for the day. The farmers market, some food shopping, hitting a yarn store, then going to watch some of the Climbing competition that is happening at the Gym I attend. Who knows where the evening will bring me, but it has only been two weeks and I feel like I have not been this happy in years. I love Frankfurt :) :) :)
