Setup Work and Time Tracking in WordPress
As WordPress becomes more popular, we can find many creative uses of WordPress. A company intranet using WordPress is one of them. Some business or organizations build internal file sharing websites with WordPress. Some companies use WordPress to allow their employees to log in and report hours or activities. Some small business owners or managers require their employees or team members to submit work report or schedule through WordPress. WordPress is open source CMS, you can customize it for your special purpose. And there are a lot of plugins to extend its possibilities. You can make your WordPress site pretty much anything you want it to be. In this review, we will introduce the HRM Work Tracking plugin for WordPress, a free project management tool, a complete employee or user time tracking in the WordPress backend.
Install Work Tracking WordPress plugin
Log on your WP dashboard, go to Plugins >> Add New, search for HRM Work Tracking, install and activate this work tracking and report plugin in WordPress.
Then you need to log out and log in WP dashboard again. The WordPress work tracking plugin will start tracking your work on the WordPress site. See below screenshot.
From the Dashboard >> HRM Welcome Page, you will find three tabs, Welcome, Changes and Get started/Support. The welcome page shows the current version of your HRM Work Tracking plugin for WordPress.

Start the Time Tracking
• Log out and then log in again:
• Now you can find the tracking widget on your dashboard. counting.
• In every post you have a meta box indicating how long are you writing
• In the profile of each user you can set hours per week.
Work Time Tracking Settings
Go to WP Dashboard >> Users >> Settings, you can turn on or off options such as:
Stop time tracking after certain time (after a fith of weekly hours.)
Stop time tracking on log out
Daily Time Stats (Be careful this can produce a lot of records in your Database)
When you are done with the settings, click Send Data button to save the change.
The plugin is simple: the user logs in and starts his working hours. However, the system has a function to capture the time also when he logs out or computer / browser crashes. You can choose if time tracking stops on logout.
WordPress Work Time Tracking Extra Tips
If you have enabled Time to write posts option, then when a WordPress user is composing a post or page, a small meta box shows below the article composing window which shows the time a WordPress users has been using on this specific WordPress post. This is a great free time checking tool. If you work primarily with WordPress and want a web based time tracking tool or free online time tracking software, you should consider to use it. Note that the working time recording also works for WordPress users that are classified only as a Subscriber.
If you turned out the Daily Time Stats, this work tracking tool for WordPress, will give you daily report of other WP user or your employees. It however will create a lot of records in your WordPress database.
Your employees or WordPress team members will have a My Work section under the Profile menu, where they can find their work log at any specific data. There will be a sick certificate section where your employees can report ill by providing the date from the doctor’s note. The human resource department or staff manager will be able to find the stats if anyone report ill from Users >> Human Resource Department. Also other member stats will also be displayed there, such as online, absent, time tracking, etc. Everyone in the HR Department can change employee profiles and set the desired hours of the employees, even if this WordPress is user not an administrator.
