still a work in progress but, ingrid is not an ordinary vampire in the sense that she was bitten and turned by another. rather, her father, viktor ivanov -- a practitioner of dark magic & necromancy -- had taken an interest in immortality long before ingrid was born. he was fascinated by its effects on the body, believing it to be an advanced disorder of the blood or, perhaps, some divine curse that could be reversed.
because vampires were not the easiest to locate, viktor set out to use his own means as a way of replicating vampirism to advance his studies. his test subject? his daughter. using an ancient book of necromancy, viktor was able to turn ingrid into a vampire.
over the years, he did extensive research on ingrid, subjecting her to various tests & trials in an effort to understand her nature. his goal was not always clear, his studies ranging from "what a vampire was vulnerable to" to "suppressing a vampire's powers." one thing was for certain, however: his interest in vampires bordered on pure disdain.
with the help of paladin keelan mornwalker, ingrid was able to eventually break free from viktor.

this is still a major work in progress, but the velika family can be found in the underdark, where they now reside after being chased out of their home in neverwinter.
when you arrive to the velika home (whether by accident, or because mishka snuck up on you in the underdark), she is more than happy to give you a safe place to rest once it's abundantly clear that you will not harm her family.
she will also offer to help with the parasite, to no avail.
here, you'll meet all of the velika children and her husband, stalvar (who remains in bat form during your stay).
she will develop a fondness for your party, especially astarion.
you'll learn that the family retreated to the underdark after their home was burnt to the ground -- an act born out of fear due to their vampiric nature, led by stalvar's brother.
because of this incident, the children are relatively sheltered and do not feed from or coexist with humanoids. they live in the underdark now because it feels like a relatively safe place for them, aside from the other dangers of the underdark.
mishka, the youngest velika, is fascinated by humannoids/humans & will stalk your party through the underdark until discovered. she tells your party that she "didn't mean to frighten you" and that her "closest thing to a friend are the myconoids."

CONSTANTA VELIKA: the matriarch of the family. she is an incredibly loving mother, who simply wants the best for all her children, whether they are her flesh and blood or not. constanta is a family-first woman. sometimes to a fault.
STALVAR VELIKA: the patriarch of the family. to the outside world, stalvar velika is something to be feared. he is stoic and his presence is enough to make any mere mortal uneasy. behind closed doors, he is a loving, doting father and husband. though, his relationship with mathias is tense.
TIRNUS VELIKA: affectionately referred to by the children as uncle ti, no one outside of constanta and stalvar really know how this minotaur came to be part of the family and the children, used to their mother's adoptive ways by now, have stopped questioning it. tirnus was there for the birth of all three of the biological children and has helped raise all of them, including the adopted children, alongside constanta and stalvar.
INESSA VEILKA: inessa is the eldest daughter of the velika children. she takes after stalvar the most, her disposition sharper than the rest of her siblings. though she'd never admit it out loud, sometimes she begrudgingly feels responsible for all of the velika children; a notion that makes her feel guilty when she knows her parents love them.
MATHΓAS VELIKA: mathΓas is the middle child. although they love their family a great deal, they can't help but feel a sort of resentment for their existence. they feel sort of uncomfortable in their position "between worlds" as a dhampir, unlike their sisters who all seem to embrace it. it is also evident that something haunts them, moreso than their siblings: a curse passed down to them from stalvar.
MISHKA VELIKA: mishka is the youngest, and last, of the biological children that stalvar/constanta had prior to stalvar turning into vampire. and, although there are "no favorites" in the velika household, most of the siblings would argue that mishka is, without a doubt, stalvar's favorite. where he goes, she follows.
these three, all birthed by constanta while stalvar was still human, are dhampirs. all of them look like the spitting image of stalvar in one way or another; the most notable feature being a white streak of hair, except for mishka, who's hair is split down the middle in color.
VLADEMAR VELIKA: vlademar is the first adopted child that was turned by constanta. he and mathΓas are constantly at odds with one another, much to constanta's dismay.

casimir is a recruitable companion that can be found in act 2 of baldur's gate 3! he is a paladin of selΓ»ne, stationed at the last light inn, aiding isobel in her protection of the area from the curse. when conversation with isobel instigates the combat between marcus and his winged ghouls, a nearby casimir will come to her aid. afterwards, you can speak to him.
he will tell you that he was called to these lands not only by selΓ»ne herself, but because he's looking for his daughter β astrid. she was kidnapped by sharrans a few years ago and he believes there is a temple dedicated to the goddess somewhere that may have clues to her whereabouts.
his duty to ensuring the protection of isobel and the people of the last light inn has made it difficult for him to investigate much, therefore he will ask for your aid.
if aurora is present during this conversation, you will learn immediately that this is her uncle when he addresses her first, gathering her into a hug and frantically looking over her for any injuries post-combat.
aurora will tell you that she hasn't seen casimir in years, that the last time she'd seen him was a year prior to her venture into barovia β a venture that she and her brother took in search of his twin brother, vladimir horngaard morozov. the fact that he has a daughter and she's missing comes as a genuine surprise to her.
a perception check will tell you that aurora feels guilty/upset about something following your initial interaction with casimir.
casimir is very gruff/cross by nature, protective of aurora in a way that comes off as overbearing despite how well-intentioned he is. regardless, aurora loves him. he will speak to her in celestial and frequently checks in on her & the rest of your party when you return to the last light inn.
he loves a good tavern game and will indulge you in a few rounds if you ask.
once the curse on the land is broken, casimir will accompany you to baldur's gate when a clue in the temple of shar points you to a place called the house of grief.
