#FTC30jours challenge de @feminisetaculture Jour 6: poète Zoe Leonard, celle qui a écrit le poème "I want a president" qui se lit comme un cri du cœur et de rage. Bien qu'écrit en 1992, son poème est toujours d'actualité, à en donner le vertige. Je l'ai découverte grâce à un podcast fait par des queer littéraires américains ( @gayslutswhoread ), qui ont trouvé beaucoup de réconfort dans ces mots après les élections présidentielles de 2016. Plus qu'un poème, c'est un manifeste, un appel à un monde meilleur, un objectif à atteindre. Je vous mets les premiers vers (en anglais, je me risquerai jamais à traduire un tel élan): "I want a dyke for president. I want a person with aids for president and I want a fag for vice president and I want someone with no health insurance and I want someone who grew up in a place where the earth is so saturated with toxic waste that they didn't have a choice about getting leukemia. I want a president that had an abortion at sixteen and I want a candidate who isn't the lesser of two evils and I want a president who lost their last lover to aids, who still sees that in their eyes every time they lay down to rest, who held their lover in their arms and knew they were dying. [...] I want to know why we started learning somewhere down the line that a president is always a clown, always a john and never a hooker. I have fought giants all my life and what I’ve come to realise is that giants come and go. You slay one, another one grows (subtle reference to Hydra). The battle to slay your giants never really end, but after each one you just get better and better at doing it. So the same way David faced Goliath, come as you are with whatever you have – no fluff, no pretence – and slay those giants.

Trying to fit in like a mismatched puzzle piece to the society who can't even find the peace it needs to survive and they all lie to the face of the different to be significant in life; saying not to judge when they are the jury who come to a conclusion in a hurry to hurt those on the line of fire and retire those in search of the perfect life, a child and wife because of the the way they look, feel, and act .They are attacked for just being who they are. They inspire the hate that people harbour inside and some can't contain or hide. These are the same people who get to the bottom of their rope only to tie a slip knot, but god knows how hard they've fought for things to be different and for things to change but it's no use they can't stop the abuse of their love and affection and can't help but think what a change of direction could have done for them. It's not fair that those who try to burn the brightest get put out by the insecure and immature that can't understand in their range of emotion the life of devotion they have destroyed or the dreams they've ripped apart in spite of the best efforts to remain equal to show we are all the same. They’re to blame for the shame that we feel because they don’t appeal to the standards of the self righteous with their primitive bias that society should be one in the same. It’s an obnoxious game played with only one team but the others are forced to play because the game is life. We must all live with this twisted knife in our back or choose to be further oppressed. It’s a war that makes no sense and the opposing defence holds no weight. It’s one hell of a fight.
